I just bought the Pixar Short Films Collection Volume 2 Blu-Ray that was released just last week, and Disney is already making use of Star Wars in their advertisements in their theme parks calling the Star Wars characters part of their "Disney family entertainment".

That was fast.

Was it actually saying "And now Star Wars is part of Disney family entertainment" or was it just showing the characters in the parks? Because Star Wars characters have been in the Disney parks for years.

They had this footage beforehand for the star tours launch last year, they just re-purposed it.

It's a commercial where children are meeting all the Disney characters: Mickey Mouse, the Disney princesses, Chip and Dale, Goofy, the Cars characters, and Obi-Wan and Darth Vader.

The latter, especially, seemed a little out of place considering there were no other villains in that list.

Disney has had Star Wars characters in their parks since they first put in the Star Tours rides. And Hollywood Studios has had Star Wars Weekends there every year for a long time now. The Goofy/Jar-Jar thing isn't new. Neither is having them in the commercials.

I'm particularly fond of the Goofy/Cad Bane mashup.

My girlfriend just bought me the Sam Eagle / Gonzo set, which is pretty awesome.

I couldn't be more happier with this. George Lucas had a great idea but he's had nothing but fail since Return of the Jedi. This IP is long overdue for a proper re-boot ... not a re-skin.
