I'm calling it. If Lee's death isn't retconned. Omid will be the protagonist.

Think about it.

He's apparently Clem's favorite.
He's into history. Like Lee.
His leg got fucked up. Like Lee's knee.
He was amazed by Clementine.
He can die in Episode 5, and if he does you have to restart from your last checkpoint.

And unlike Ben, Lilly, Kenny, and Molly, Omid's backstory is vague, possibly deliberate so we can learn more about him as a protagonist.

I'm 70% sure of this, lol.

where can omid die? not that I want him dead but I'd like to see at some point or at least be told how it happens

He can fall into a construction hole after Kenny "dies". And he can die defending the house if you don't act.

I think he means Omid can die during the defend the mansion segment, like everyone else, but that forces a hard reset (like if you let Kenny or Clementine die during quick-time events.)

I don't think the protagonist is gonna be anyone we've seen. I bet you there are some people who wouldn't buy season 2 for the sole reason of him being the protagonist. I would buy it, but wouldn't be thrilled about it.

I had the same suspicions, OP. I don't think he will be the next protagonist, but who knows!

I hope Omid isn't the protagonist. I liked him, and he has potential to be a good character if he's fleshed out a bit more but he isn't leading character material. He's good buddy, comic relief, side character material.

Although, I guess going into the second season it could potentially be interesting. That could be him and Christa that find Clementine, so season 2 if you played as Omid you would be looking after a surrogate daughter, Clem, and a potentially pregnant girlfriend, Christa. It would really give you an emotional tie in to protect them at all costs.
