It really wasn't Ben's fault the bandits attacked. They would have attacked sooner if they hadn't cut a deal. And what would have been the result? They still would have had to have left the Inn, people could have died in the shooting/zombie raid like they did as it was.

The only thing different is that you have someone to blame it on. Just because Ben thinks its his fault doesn't mean it is.

Maybe if he had come forward and said something about the bandits, the group could have been a little more prepared. Maybe they could have just up and gone. But the bandits were keeping close watch on them. They could have struck at any moment.

The whole reason that they were attacked was because Lee unknowingly removed the package from the place. Had he informed the rest of the group about this deal, the whole thing could have been avoided. It is his fault since he failed to inform everyone else. There is no excuse for him not to tell the others.

I agree, although in a somewhat roundabout way it was still his fault. Giving the bandits supplies assumingly lulled the group into a false sense of security and when they finally came weren't as prepared as they should have been. They did survive previous attacks quite efficiently and didn't seem as prepared as they should have been when the bandits attacked (they all got captured in a manner of seconds). That's mostly speculation though. Hm, although, when you think about it, the attack would have never happened if he only told he group about his dealings, then Lee wouldn't have fucked with the bag.

He did however cause Carley's death in whatever way you look at it. He:

A. Didn't tell Lilly that it was him. I get it, Ben's scared of her, but while his friends (Lee and Carley) were defending him he was flat out lying to everyone... if only he took the noble route and told Lilly, then I would have more respect for him.

B. The reason why Lilly went crazy was because of her paranoia about someone giving the bandits supplies. If Ben didn't betray the group Lilly wouldn't go nuts, and wouldn't have shot Carley.

Although, overall, Ben gets too much hate. Usually when I hate on him it's usually jokingly, I actually really like him. He's a very realistic character, he's probably how any teenager would act in this situation.

Yeah I mainly just jokingly make fun of ben. He's one of the most realistic characters in the game. It's just upsetting he didn't do this thing called "communication." It's this neat thing you do even as a baby but learn to do through talking when around age 2/3.

Granted, things could have gone differently if he had have spoken up, but it's easy to say that its all his fault. I guess, it is partly his fault, but it's not like coming clean would have solved all their problems. The bandits were still out there.

No, but they would have had a much better chance of getting out of that situation unscratched. They managed to fend the bandits off before and survive. The group was led into a false sense of security.
