Update 2: After going through a number of them, This is the DINPUT8.dll you want. (Windows 7 RTM, rather than the fully patched-up Windows 7 I pulled the DLL from initially) Seems to be working as expected.

This fixed worked for me as well. I am running Win8 Pro.

TellTale apparently has 0 QA and if they do have QA it's probably 1 or 2 people overloaded with so many other problems that simple things like testing on the new OS MS is releasing to see if the game even launches isn't even on their radar.

It's sad. Basic testing could relieve almost all of the problems in the Walking Dead and then FREE PATCHING ON THE PC could resolve long standing issues. But that just doesn't appear to be a priority.

No wonder customers had to buy the whole season on the PC rather than each episode.

I had the same issue after switching to Win 8, and after trying every compatibility tweak I had read about, the only thing that worked for me was unplugging my gamepad (even though it's not a 360-type of gamepad). After that the game launched, not fullscreen, but it launched at least.
Of course, there's the matter of losing of all my saves though...

I'm not using a controller, and the game still doesn't work. A little window comes up and it seems to be running fine, but when I click the button that says "Click to Continue" the window simply closes and nothing happens.
