JAM: January Animation Month - Make 31 Animations In January

In that case I doubt I'll be able to create any sort of animations. I really suck at flash animations. It's more likely I'll succeed in reanimation, the process of turning corpses into the undead. Let me know when you have one of those competitions.

I always wanted to create an animated sketch comedy parody show like Robot Chicken. This year I decided to use JAM to finally make that dream a reality, one sketch at a time.

Here's the first one.

Wow. The end of the month has a way of creeping up on you.

Here's a new comic animation. I got to finally update my comic (it's been 6 months already since the last update!) and get another animation done at the same time.

I'm not crazy enough to do 30 animations in one day, but I'll try to get at least a few more up before JAM is over.

Since I don't want to bump the topic every time I make a new animation, here's two more:

I was making up weird sayings in other languages like "Voulez vous manger un croissant, maintenant?" and "Watashi wa Ichiban Pika-chan". This animation is of the latter:



And another comic because the one subscriber I have deserves more than one comic every half a year.

So, year three of the January Animation Month Challenge is coming up. Anyone feel like joining in on the fun? It's always fun during these JAMs to see what people come up with.

Oh, and if you want to pop in for a few days and do some animations but don't feel like doing all 31, feel free. I only did four last year (although I'm going to try to do all 31 this year. It would be nice to match my first year. ).

Thanks for joining in on the fun this year! Feel free to pop in at this thread at any point during this month if you feel like making more (don't let the 31 animation goal deter you, this challenge is all about having fun and maybe even honing your skills, so any animation done during JAM is a success in my book).

Here's my first animation of the month (and a continuation of my webcomic). This one's actually based on a dream that I really had where I played frisbee with a dragon. It's was surreal, and a bit strange (but is not my strangest dream ever... I should post that some time, now that one's weird ).

I didn't update the JAM info page with information on this year's January Animation Month until well into the first of January, so it's understandable. And, thanks for joining up and joining in.

I’m planning on making a commercial adventure game based on my Jenni comic, so I’m going back to the comics with copyrighted characters and replacing them with public domain characters and my own characters to be on the safe side. So, here's my newest animation: an animated gif of Gus the Bear doing a parody of the bee taunt.

Here's my third JAM animation for 2013. This is the next character that I changed for my comic as it was originally a copyrighted character. I was originally thinking of making the fictional animal something like a unicorn, but then I realized that there are multiple bearalopes out there. This one is influenced by Graham Annable's bearalope from his webcomic Dank (of course! I love that comic and miss it ), the Boonville Bearalope, and my bear character Gus.

My latest animation for the 2013 January Animation Month is of Captain Hook in the portal between dimensions. This is the last of the replacements of copyrighted characters for my webcomic that I can do without changing the text bubbles. I’m not sure what to do about those.

I like it too, and you're learning a new animation program, which is a great for your JAM time. That reminds me of what I wanted to do last year, using Disney Animation Studio for an animation for JAM (I made my first animation using that, when I was 13 or 14, which is about 20 years ago now (wow, I can't believe it's been that long). I think I will use it for this year's JAM for one animation, for nostalgia's sake.

Here's my fifth animation for the 2013 January Animation Month challenge. I'm still trying to sort out public domain characters for my webcomic. The latest batch is a bit trickier than the last because I'm going to have to change the word bubbles as there are references to those copyrighted characters I'm replacing and their character traits.

I'm trying to keep the general plot of the comics the same though. This one required a time traveler, and the first public domain one that came to mind was H.G. Wells' Time Machine, so here we are.
