Its a thousand years late!

I wouldn't mind seeing a game based on the originals (4 5 and 6) they are classics and I think it would be cool if there was a new game where you got to play it out.

I'd personally not enjoy a point and click that is actually the movie

We would already know all the solutions to the puzzles

I can see a story going on parallel to the original trilogy and have stuff life the main character seeing Luke and Han in a bar but not a direct game

I'm not opposed to the "big movie franchises" in principle. But how about some that have NOT been gameified to death yet. There's no other franchise that's as tainted as Star Wars is. 24 games by my last rough count! No_need_for_more.

Sure, I'd be ecstatic if Telltale got the Indy license, but mostly because that would force them to go back to the adventure roots of the franchise. There's scarcely any other movie franchise that lets you incorporate challenging puzzle solving without a feeling that it doesn't really belong into the story line.

Heck, even the action scenes would be something to look out for. For triple A franchises like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, Telltale just could not get away with pseudo action like QTEs or "press W to advance" sequences.

It's at least 60. But who's counting.

What do you mean Darth? If we got a dancing Star Wars game with Kinect controls can it get much worse?

How about a Star Wars dating sim. You play Jabba and need to get Leia to "give herself to you". Would that be worse?

Well great, You have made Star Wars worse than Star Wars Kinect. What do you want to do next? Make a Phantom Menace extended cut with 2 extra hours?

That depends. If the two extra hours aren't political pseudo-speak that makes me want to rip my hair out because I'm so damn bored, sure.

Sure, why not. We can get those crappy voice actors to try and sound like the real characters. That's one of the things that bugged me once we moved out of the SNES era. The only decent voice actors(doing canon roles) for Star Wars games lately have been the guy that did Vader and the guy that did Yoda for The Force Unleashed games. Not counting Bail Organa's voice actor since they DID get Jimmy Smits for that. No one's been able to really do these character's voices.

Well I just feel we could use those two hours to explain Midichlorians and show the childhood of JarJar with his people. Sounds good?

BTW, the thread title is misleading. No one ever said Star Wars was a "deeper" franchise. The word is only used as in deeper story to a [possibly not yet very deep] pre-existing franchise.

The reason Star Wars games became crap is because they just copied other games and threw the Star Wars logo on them. LucasArts turned into a company that made Star Wars versions of every other game in existence. They used to make really interesting original games (that had nothing to do with light sabers!) like Tie Fighter/X-Wing, Dark Forces, Rebel Assault was even fun. Rogue Squadron wasn't bad. Games like Galactic Battlegrounds copied Age of Empires (to the point of actually using the same engine and just changing all the graphics, decent game though it is), The Force Unleashed copied God of War and other QTE games in that vein. Republic Commandos reminds me of games like SWAT or something. There's just too much copying now. At least other developers that would develop a game in a genre, for the most part, added something unique to give it an identity. All LA did was take a genre and slap Star Wars, the Force, and light sabers on top of it.

I'd like to see a Star Wars RPG/FPS somewhat like The Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3/NV, or Rage where it's a large open world with stories, plots, factions, side quests.....but you're not a Jedi. You're like a bounty hunter or something that has nothing to do with the Jedi or the Sith or the Empire or the Republic. Like what Prey 2 was supposed to be before the delay (possible cancellation?). KOTOR and TOR don't count. I hate turn-based combat and I don't really like MMO's that much, I'm finding. Actually the whole third-person perspective is kind of grating on me lately.

Anyway, what were we talking about? Oh yeah, Telltale.

Sounds like 1313 would appeal to you then.

That's not exactly the open world game I was looking for. I am intrigued by it, though.

I'm not enthralled by 1313 at all. Or anything LucasArts has done in recent times. They have completely ignored two of their best selling franchises, Battlefront and Rogue Squadron, to do another bounty hunter game.

For some of us, Battlefront and Rogue Squadron are fine examples of the types of generic or dumbed down games that continued the rot that set in with the prequel movies and their associated games.

Rogue Squadron was dumbed down? That implies some lack of quality or challenge, but that game was amazing. Just because it's not a flight simulator doesn't mean it wasn't good.
