Original plan:Telltale ask Kirkman if they can include Lilly Caul in their game and tell her back story before she arrived in Woodbury.Kirkman says yes,go ahead.
Plan B also known as "Kirkman fucks over Telltale": Kirkman decides to co-write novels detailing the back story of his characters from Woodbury and decides that the second one will be about Lilly. He and his co-writer want to have the freedom to write without the constraints of using game Lilly(understandable)and they decide to ignore the Telltale version(very disappointing).
Plan C: New novel about comic Lilly on the way so Telltale have to remove any previous mention that game Lilly is the same Lilly i.e her character bio and the "Woodbury Bound" achievement/trophy.Kirkman now says that we have two differnt Lilly's thus comic, novels and game can stay canon and will still exist in the same world.
Hope that makes it clear.
I liked the original idea of the game interacting more with the comic but I accept that things have now changed. At no time do we hear game Lilly or Larry mention that their surname is Caul, so no story conflict there. We now have two Lilly's in The Walking Dead with different surnames,no canon conflict. We also have a Molly in the game and comic who only share the same name.
Unless Telltale decide to do more with their Lilly in future seasons it's up to individual players to decide what fate they want for her.
A grisly end if you hated her or a much more pleasant fate if you liked her...
