And yes, you should read them. They're pretty awesome.
Back on topic; If a game was to be made, here are several key questions that would need to be addressed.
1. Where in the Dresden Files timeline would you like to see a story set?
2. Would we be playing as Dresden, or some extended universe character?
3. Would the Telltale Games episodic content formula work for the game?
4. Would the game be better in another game genre (ie RPG, action adventure etc)?
5. Under the assumption that Telltale made the game, would you buy this bad-boy?

Answers to each Question....
1. Obviously you'd want to start at the beginning, as in the first book. But if Jim Butcher gave permission then they could tell the story of Harry starting when he was younger and just learning his magic abilities.
2. Honestly you would want to play as Harry. He is the center of the story so you'd want to be playing him.
3. In my previous post I mentioned doing each book as a episode or you could do multiple episodes per book, which would mean you could spread the book series out over many episodes allowing for content to flourish This would be very attractive for fans of the series.
4. In truth, Fans of the series would be more likely to enjoy exploring the world of the Dresden files. So using Tell Tale's style of story telling (Sam and Max, Walking Dead, etc) would be just what fans would be looking for. The more detail they go into, the more fans will want to play. This would also introduce gamers to The Dresden Files book series which would benefit both Tell Tale and Author Jim Butcher. Thought there is a paper RPG available for The Dresden Files right now, so that is also a possibility.
5. I would definitively buy and play the game. I already enjoy Sam & Max as well as Walking Dead. I'm an even bigger fan of The Dresden Files and if I could explore the world of Harry Dresden on a visual level like those games, It would be like getting to not only read the books again but live them!
