Default if The walking dead games was photorealistic

i think if TWD was photorealistic it wouldn't be as good as it is, and it's not just because it wouldn't fit in as well with the comics, but i also think that because of it's cartoonish style it allowed the players to make the characters real in their mind by casting/detailing the characters themselves.

if the characters were photorealistic or based on/played by famous celebrities some of the freedom of interpretation within the story about the characters would be lost, and in my opinion would have been a detriment to the game.

I definitely enjoy the art in the game. I agree that the style in which the characters were portrayed actually made them more life like than what "realistic" graphics would. I hope they stick to this.

yeah, i like the "realistic" in quotes because i have never seen in film or games an actual realistic person rendered with computer graphics, i think the day we do invent some kind of realistic way to render things in games, is the day that some people will realise that photorealism wasn't and never will be the reason people play games and that unlike what some people may say you don't need photorealism to create to deep emotions like sadness or love.

2K games boss Christoph Hartmann says
Quote:
"Recreating a Mission Impossible experience in gaming is easy; recreating emotions in Brokeback Mountain is going to be tough or at least very sensitive in this country...it will be very hard to create very deep emotions like sadness or love, things that drive the movies. Until games are photorealistic, it'll be very hard to open up to new genres. We can really only focus on action and shooter titles; those are suitable for consoles now. To dramatically change the industry to where we can insert a whole range of emotions, I feel it will only happen when we reach the point that games are photorealistic; then we will have reached an endpoint and that might be the final console."

Then Episode 2 would be even more disgusting than it already is.

I liked the art style, but most of the textures were really muddy and had some banding issues (particularly Clementine on the banding thing).

I couldn't agree more.
