If there were a Canon Lee, he would not be friends with Kenny

Do you agree? I personally love the Lee/Kenny relationship, but I think as far as story development wise, they should not be friends but rather enemies. Playing through many times I come to realize that IMHO the runs where Lee and Kenny are BFF's all throughout the game is not nearly as interesting or as good for character development as when they do not get along and fight each other at times. The train segment was great when you too didn't like each other and the attic scene in EP5 was as well. All my own opinion but what do you think? Doesn't matter if you love or hate Kenny personally but think more as a story, like say a novel with a canon Lee rather than the game Lee.

Try to save Larry: I can fully see Lee, a man trying to redeem himself for past mistakes, jump at this chance.

Steal the Supplies: Personally I think Lee would as well considering the state of the group at this point.

Shoot Beatrice: Lee would not let her suffer like that.

Drop Ben: I can't see Lee killing Ben like this when there's no reason not to pull him up, maybe if it was a choice like Doug/Carley again but still, he wouldn't kill Ben.

in reality if Lee thought a massive guy like larry was going to come back from the dead and try to eat everyone he would go with kenny on the meat locker decision, remember that not long before that Lee and katjaa were almost killed by the zombie that rose from the dead pretty quickly, it's about fear of death, redemption wouldn't really come into it.

he would take the supplies because they were hungry and the car was abandoned, shooting someone in the head to put them out of their misery is really only something hardened action heroes do in films, he wouldn't kill Ben though there was really no reason to do that

There is no Canon Lee but what the player's Lee is like. My Lee was BFFs with Kenny, and I thought that the entire game was really great, with the two best friends beings the ones who survive the longest and always have each others' backs. The train scene, I thought, was really epic when I talked him down and learned why Kenny acts the way he does. The meat locker scene could go either way. If Larry came back and bit someone because Lee didn;t help Kenny, he would never forgive himself for that I think. Especially if it happened to Clem. I'm pretty sure taking the supplies would be what Lee would do. Clementine and the entire group are starving to death. I'm not sure about Beatrice, but he might not want to kill anymore. The group doesn't know for certain that bites are what does it at this point, Kenny and Kat even say so in the RV with Duck, so he may have held out a bit of hope that she'd be alright. Can't really see him dropping Ben, because Lee would probably think that if he gets a chance at redemption then Ben should too.

I know there is no "canon" Lee, but I'm wondering what he would be if there ever were one. For the most part, I don't think Lee would have gotten along with Kenny. Although I do see Stalkingdead's point about the Larry situation but I don't know, I think Kenny reacted way to soon and impulsive and while Lee might agree that they need to deal with him before he turned, the situation in doing so could have gone better.

maybe things with lilly could have gone better if they had taken the time to talk to her, but probably not, but out of the two choices (not making up any others) Lee and Kenny would have had to deal with larry

Agreed that Larry would have to be dealt with and Lily was in no way able to, but that and the car supplies still aren't enough for them to get along. We've seen many times before that to gain Kenny's approval is to be damn near be 100% loyal to him and even the dialogue given is to cause tension between the two. Mainly in EP4 and EP5 most times when talking with Kenny there is usually 1 out of 4 responses that either approvals or doesn't anger him leaving the majority of people to add further confrontation with him. Maybe it's me but I feel Telltale wanted tension between Lee and Kenny, seems most choices encourage this IMO.

i think Lee would defend Duck in the pharmacy and save him over shawn (he is a child) i think he would be sensitive to how kenny was feeling in the train and not beat him into killing his son, sure by episode 4 kenny was clearly in a bad mood, but by then they would have been friends

I don't think they would be the best of friends but they certainly wouldn't be enemies. There would be an even amount of agreements and disagreements, like you can have in the game.

At the end of ep 4 Kenny can either:
-Immediately join you without a second thought, if you've been on his side at all times.
-Refuse to join you no matter what you've said if you do nothing but go against him.
-Be hesitant in deciding due to the risks, but can be convinced in the end.

I think their relationship would be more along the middle path. It may strained by many events due to their differing opinions, but in the end they'd still get along relatively well.

Lee says it well in episode 2: "It's not about making friends. We're all in this together, we've gotta start acting like it."

We don't know enough about any potential "cannon Lee" to be sure. A lot of his personality is what you project on to him with your choices. How much do we see him do/sat that you didn't guide? I can't recall a lot, his past aside.

You can say it seems out of character to kill Ben but thats only if you chose the diplomatic and friendly options. If you spend the last episode and a half giving him both barrels for every mistake (In particular "Carley didn't have to die" is brutal, stopping centimeters short of "it should have been you") then its not really. Who says "cannon Lee" is the forgiving one?

It does seem easier to upset Kenny than befriend him so its likely there would have been at least some tension, but its an unanswerable question.

yeah, i guess you are right, i just can see Lee as a mean or insensitive badass, but i guess if that is how you played him you wouldn't be able to see him as the caring and forgiving type

I definitely started out more caring than i finished, felt a bit desensitized and betrayed (lmore on topic by the fact i needed to persuade Kenny to come with me, that cut deep) by the end. Was definitely more than a little coldly vindictive towards poor Ben .

It's interesting how the perspective has changed in these last months. First people who sided with Lilly actually were angry because they thought they'd get the short end of the stick when she left - now it's about the question if "your" Lee would actually WANT to be friends with Kenny, who sticks with you up until episode 5.

The keywords being "I think" in this last quote - judgement is subjective, and you can not tie it to the compassion Lee shows regardless of player decisions. You can think that Kenny was an unfeeling bastard, or you can think that he had the guts to do what was necessary for the group to survive. Both still is possible.
