Default I loved it, but... (I hope you're listening Telltale)

I really enjoyed the first episode. It was a very nostalgic experience and miles above that horrid, offensive little title called "Escape from Monkey Island" in terms of quality and enjoyment.

My only real problem is with the music. It's so, I don't know... understated, I guess is the word I'm looking for. I'm a huge fan of Michael Land's music and I consider "The Curse of Monkey Island" to have one of the best soundtracks ever. So you can imagine my excitement when I heard he was doing the music for "Tales".

Well, the music in "Tales" was about 3 steps back in the wrong direction from "Curse". It almost sounds like MIDI and it's so in the background that it's hard to hear. After the punchy, "in your face" soundtracks of Sam & Max and Wallace and Gromit, well the music in this game is rather wimpy, comparitively.

What, I'm trying to say is: Use more live instrumentation and pump the volume up a little bit.

Or maybe I'm being a little nitpicky. (?)

I loved the music! I especially like the theme-song of the doctor. But I agree that it was too quiet, especially near the end where the sound effects of the storm were so loud, the music (and speech) were very hard to hear.

Just listen to the music from "The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition". Now that is what I expected to hear in this game.

Well you could always alter the settings so the sound effects are low and the speech and music are high

By default I think the sound effects are louder than music even if they are in the same volume level. So a good idea is to change the settings.

I somewhat agree with OP, but then again, Mr Land had very little to work with, since there weren't that many locations to begin with so you can't really hear the variations of his abilities. You do hear different variations of a tune when you stand NEXT to different buildings on the dock, so there's an A for effort, but I agree that it's not as epic as we've grown accustomed to.

Yeah, I did notice that they tried to use a "IMUSE"-like music engine - where the music shifts and fades from one to the other. I just feel the compositions were below-par compared to Michael Land's early 90s work. Oh well, I guess he's been out of the loop for a while...

Good job over all though. Music's not great, but it'll do.

I also agree, Curse's music was so amazing, almost a perfect balance between new and classic. Still remember it's only the 1st episode, the game hasn't even started and it's go so much potential I doubt Mr. Land or the folks at TTG will screw it. They're doing great so far.
