(GoG sells them reasonably cheap. While you may be able to find an abandonware version somewhere, GoG sells the full "talkie" version of the game.)
The subtitled version is also included. (just bought it)

id deffinitly recommend gabriel knight games - ive always been a fan of fmv games and gk2 did it really well without sacrificing puzzle quality and game play, other games that did fmv well are tex murphy games go to gog.com to get them all. especially the pandora directive and under a killing moon, pandora is generally considered the best in the series.

haha i was just about to edit my post and recommend that - if you like lots of horror and gore the original is a great game. a bit quick and easy but scared me to death when i was younger lol. phantasmagoria 2 wasnt quite as scary as the original but still has its fair share of extreme gore and controversial stuff and is an enjoyable romp while it lasts. 2 of the best bad games ive played! i say best bad games as technchically there not very good, short, easy and really bad acting!

Under a Killing Moon and Pandora Directive are two of the best adventures ever made, and both are on GOG now.

Blade Runner is probably one of my favorite adventure games ever.

another cool p&c adventure game in the style of monkey island and simon the sorcerer would be the late "chewy: esc from f5" (1997) ... and "the feeble files" is good too

I'm not sure if any one noticed, but Lucas Arts released The Dig, Loom, and others on Steam: link.

Damn I just remembered two of my favorites.

Discworld, which is excellent and hard as hell (I haven't played it in a long time, but I remember having to pull my hair)
Discworld II, is pretty good too, and looks really good.

They're both funny as hell. Well I'm biased I love Terry Pratchett...

I think these are really underrated.
