Nobody in my real life like MI. They don't even know what ti is. Everytime I start talking about MI with my friend, he is like: "Oh my God, here we go again". I just can't hold it I need someone to share the excitement...

*sigh* Yes, that's the problem with old timers. Adventure games were popular before computer games became mainstream, so you pretty much have to look for people who are usually 25 to 30 years old (I know there are also adventure gamers outside that range, but most are roughly that age), and who were interested in computers at an early age.

In my immediate surrounding there is sadly nobody who fits both these criteria, so for adventure games I'm pretty much stuck with the net.

I try not to upset the people around me when I know that MI means absolutely nothing to them.

Me too, I'm 20! I played the first Monkey Island game when I was around 7\8ish when we got our first pc, but never played the second (didn't know it existed until Curse came out!) I LOVED curse when it came out, played MI4 but felt let down a little, and LOVE Tales of MI so far! - can't wait for the next chapter

*Was thinking of playing MI2, but with the special edition of Secret Of MI coming out, I'm waiting just in case they re-do MI2 later on. Dunno how long I can wait though as it seems MI2 was better than the first after reading some posts on here? I find it hard to believe though

I'm currently playing through Curse again now I've finished the first chapter of TOMI. Haven't played it since it came out so have gotten stuck already as I can't remember it properly

Did you actually say 'woot' aloud?

But yeah, I've got no one to talk to about it. Makes me sad.

When I tell the girls about Guybrush, they reply with "where has he been all my life!" ;D

(Completely true, not altered for comedic effect)

I'm 34. As many people here, I play adventure games (including MI) since 1990, when I was 15. My cell phone ringtone is the MI main theme
My wife plays MI too (although she needs very assistance from me)
My first daughter is 12 and plays too, Their favorite is CMI
And my second (and last) daughter is 6 and she's already asking who is Guybrush Threepwood and jumps to the computer when hears the MI music!!

For ToMI none of them can play, because they doesn't speak english at all

I have a very Monkeyislandish family

My husband was the one who told me it was coming back and initially shared my enthusiasm. Now he tries to run away every time the words "Monkey Island" come out of my mouth.

My mother in law is so sick of hearing me talk about it that she is actually going to play just to try and understand my fascination. I just gave her her first adventure game to play (Wallace and Gromit) and she is hooked. Pretty good for someone who is mainly into first person shooters.

But thank goodness I have my 4 year old daughter. She loves Monkey Island too! Or rather she loves the idea of it since she really doesn't get what is going on! She gets the general idea, LeChuck is bad, Guybrush is good, Monkeys are funny! ) And the best bit is she will happily listen to me chatter about it for as long as I want. As long as we then play Barbie of course!

Your mother in law is playing first-person shooters? Really really hard to imagine…

I also am just outside that age range (23). Played the first one as a six or seven year old, and been hooked ever since. Fortunately, my dad and my boyfriend both like it too but my friends don't really get why I keep going on about three headed monkeys my cat does like trying to eat Guybrush tho.
