The first Sam and Max was released after the first Monkey Island. I'm pretty sure it was after the second, too, because it looked as pixelated as the first and Sam and Max didn't look nearly as pixelated.

There might have been a Sam & Max referances in 'Curse' and 'Escape'...

Why are you expecting one in 'Tales'?

Very far right, you can see both Sam and Max:

That's definitely a reference in the first 2 games.

I'm replaying the MIs on my DS. They're great games.

In Curse, you can see Max on the rollercoaster., and you can also change the lights at the play to make a Max head.

I can't remember escape.

Sam & Max were referenced in LucasArts games well before Sam & Max Hit the Road. Max is in Monkey 1 and 2, I think even Indy Last Crusade, as part of a totem pole or something?

Here's a list of many of them on the Sam & Max wiki. Unfortunately not in chronological order, but hey!

Wow, that's kind of low! Or kind of HILARIOUS. (Sorry, Steve.)

I asked about this in the Private Pirates Club, and Mark Darin answered it in a roundabout sort of way.

PS. This is not a Sam & Max reference by any means, but I found this moment in Curse of Monkey Island to be rather amusing.

So weird with these unreasonable expectations. I'd like to play a new game thanks.

I wouldn't call this an unreasonable expectation. Fans that bitch about the control scheme, graphics, voice actors, and whatnot could be considered rather unreasonable (and ungrateful), but it is pretty common practice for Telltale to include in-jokes in their games, and Sam & Max themselves have appeared in some shape or form in their past releases. I know that there were a few references in Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People.

Cool, that means they're all referenced out then? I'm just saying I dislike stuff that has to be just for the sake of has to be. I understand Guybrush as main char, Lechuck involved in some way, puzzles, pirates and possibly Caribbeans- but everything else is like: SURPRISE ME! Show me cool stuff!

I don't want Telltale to say something outright like, "Sam & Max will appear as figurines in the Governor's Mansion on Bulky Island." That would spoil the fun. While I don't agree with most of doodo's threads, I think that this one is only intended to stir up a little bit of harmless speculation.

Note to self: Stop picking fights with Telltale forum members.

I might be wrong but i thought i saw a s&m reference in the Tales stage demo on Flotsam island. Looked like there was some bloke selling those unicorns from the Moon episode. if not, they certainly looked similar

They probably will have references like that.

I might buy sam and max seasons 1 and 2 just so I get the MI references.

In Curse, if you fiddle with the light controls with the stage? Max.

Don't think they're in Escape though.

It's interesting to see that your logic is that "if SMI came out before S&M, then there can be no reference in SMI..." As has been presented with screenshots, there are references in the first two games, I know about the one on the stage in CMI, but don't recall if there is one in EFMI or not.

Anyway, just curious Marduk...are you aware that Sam & Max were a comic book first, then the game came out? Granted, HtR was the first S&M game that LA produced, so I can say that it's fair to conclude they wouldn't have Easter eggs for something they hadn't produced yet...but S&M did come out prior to the SMI. Just to be clear on that point.
