Can't be.
If the voodoo lady turns out to be evil from the start, then it will have to be explained why she helped Guybrush on every single occasion and why it seemed she was telling the truth every time.
This can be done but then the story would get much too complicated for a game like this.

Noo, I think its the one with Coronado Broom.

Honestly, I don't think the Voodoo Lady is evil. I'm sure she has some secrets, but most of the time she's really trying to help Guybrush stop LeChuck and save Elaine. So if it turns out she's evil it would be kind of the EMI Grandpa Marley thing and would probably suck.

Well, she doesn't HAVE to be an evil, scheming voodoo entrepreneur, but sure I bet she has some kind of secret agenda. Helping Guybrush is fine, but that laugh in the intro was downright creepy and TTG would lose a bit in my eyes if they left it unexplained.

I wouldn't mind Tales copying PotC a little. With the voodoo lady having a sudden lover from the past, that has already happened anyway ^-^

Just not to go over board with too obvious copying.
Maybe it was even Ron's original idea that she has some master plan.

Maybe she's like the gods in Greek mythology who were not necessarily evil, but laughed at the attempts of mortals. It didn't seem like an evil laugh, just a "How are you going to get out of this, puny?"

Kind of a dark humor for Guybrush's possible death, not "I hope he dies so I can rule the world"

Now the seagulls on the other hand...

It is possible, but in my opinion, it clashes with her previous, established image. Throughout the series, she was a good, sometimes erratic helper. We've never seen much malice or underhand behaviour from her. She was mysterious, true, but as soon as I entered the House of Mojo, I knew I'd get some advice.

In ToMI, it is a bit different. She's still helpful, but much more enigmatic, even scary. Kinda reminds me of Elaine, both of them tell you what to do without giving any explanations. And seeing her as a godlike being is a whole new kind of experience and (in my opinion) a shift from her previous image.

The seagull seems suspicious, always following you... A spy?

For some reason that idea reminds me of the Fortune Teller (or whatever she was) from the Pirates of the Carribean Movies as well. She has a dark past that she doesn't go around announcing. I don't want to give away the movies but she could be withholding something important about Desinge or that guy with the disgusting canoe. Although I hope not cause the movie sorta takes it away from being a surprise if it happens again in a story.

Well.. since PotC has copied everything from MI I wouldn't mind at all. Actually I would love to see such references aswell.. such as Guybrush was a pirate hero way before Jack Sparrow was

The voodoo lady is definitely evil - she keeps cat knuckles in jars!

I'm sure LeChuck turns evil again in the final episode, just to set everything back to 'normal'.
But it would be cool to know more about the real motives of the Voodoo-Lady.
On the other side, maybe Stan turns out to be the real badguy...

Well, I'm just glad to have MI back! Can't wait for the next episode!

Ah, you've figured it out to, eh? Seriously, who remembers stuff by being hit in the head?! Man was Guybrush et al. fooled. And now they will have to pay...

I think the Voodoo Lady has always been in the game toward her own ends but I think she's independent (neither good nor bad), not evil.

I second that!

So, let's hope the guys Telltale won't do anything they'd have to regret.
I wonder if the Voodoo Lady will appear in all the remaining chapters. Not as the "announcer" like in the beginning of Chapter 2, that would be boring. But I wonder if Guybrush will get back to Flotsam Island and talk to her again, or if she'll be moving to another island in the course of the season.

I thought about this the other day.

Maybe she is evil. I think she would make an awesome villain, and I wouldn't think it was stupid or anything, she's always a bit sus. Still, I think it would be a shame to kill off such an important character, I mean what would happen with season 2?

I dunno, Telltale could pull it off.

Also Elaine is acting very weird, doesn't anybody notice it? MAybw she is working together with the Voodoo lady to kil Guybrush!!??? I mean she seems awfully friendly to LeChuck and she didn't want to kiss Guybrush... i mean which wife doesn't kiss her man after a ship explodes and she doesn't see him till now???? Maybe it was an accident, maybe the sword was crooked...the spell was miss spelled! I bet it was a conspiracy!!!! And that ring? Maaaybe it has a tracking device in it!!!????...ok that kinda sounds like Batman but STILL!! Maybe Elaine an the voodoo lady are working together!!
