The Mole, The Mob, and The Meatball Tracking time in the game.

Hey Gang,

A friend of mine and I are in a competition to see who can solve the games puzzles the fastest. Does anyone know of any mechanism to track or identify game time, or time spent playing the game?

Thanks.

Its called a stopwatch ... and please tell me what the point is in trying to solve an adventure game quickly?

That takes all the fun out of it. You miss so much, that you may as well not even play the game!

I mean besides a stopwatch.

My friend and I are just very competitive people who make side bets on everything, and we're both huge Monkey Island fans. Even after I play them, I always go back and play them again and again.

But as I mentioned, we wanted some sort of way of capturing the time of play, and I was hoping there was some sort of admin code to turn on time of play on the HUD.

Any ideas, or any developers around willing to help us out?

use some capture program to record you playing, and when you're done, see how long the video is :P

but what if he doesn't want to play in one seat

i think he is asking for that counter like some adventures have, when you save game it displays playing hours

if you compete just who will finish the game first you can just start to play at the same time and when you finish you will tell him that you are done before him

i mean someone of you could lie yes, but then again if u had the timer at the first place someone could cheat also by looking at the walkthrough

A counter is exactly what i'm looking for, Ed. You hit it right on the nose.

We're playing on the honor system that neither one of us will look up a walkthrough. I guess plan B would be pulling out a stop watch.

Either way, if anybody knows how I can turn on some sort of counter that would be great. Mataku, the video capture method isn't bad either. I'll pitch'em to my buddy and see what he says.

THanks for the help, amigos!!

Wait, so you SOLVE the game first and THEN play it again competitively and try to beat it fast?

What's the point? Trying to find out who is better at skipping cutscenes?

Speedrunner are like that. I don't usually play against anybody, but I often try Quake speedruns for fun. The point is to use the time it takes you from one spot to the next to think about the shortest route from that one to the one after. And at least in Quake that time is extremely limited.

In ToMI you have a little more time... so see it as a beginner speedrun exercise
