You're better then that!
Besides, Princess Peach is badass (if I find the analysis on her I'll show you).
And you can be offended by stuff you don't play as well if that stuff renders your race, beliefs and/or gender as something you don't like.
Actually it's not about playing it or not playing it. Because if "Just don't [whatever] it" is the answer, I don't know who thousands of gamers are offended when another report - about how the increase of violence is the games fault hits - the TV Stations. Granted, they could lead to worried parents and worried governments and certain games won't be allowed anymore, but if you are offended by those reports -which basically say you are only one step away from being a criminal- just don't watch them right? Nobody forces you.

Being badass doesn't automatically make you smart or engaging. Princess Peach is the only ruler of an entire kingdom who has not only been raided a bajillion times, but has placed her castle within walking distance of her mortal enemies hideout and allowed him to walk into her throne room unassaulted every single time he pleased.
Look, it seems overboard (to me) to judge so much about a game from five seconds. In fact its either five or less. Five seconds of scantily clad goth women crawling around like demons in a heavy metal game. Gee, that's strange. In a teaser that only shows one main character, not even the bad guy, that must automatically mean they must be the only female characters in the game. Not. I agree that it would have been stupid if they were the only women in the game, heck if they were in the game at all. But it was ridiculous to assume that from a teaser that wasn't even showing off actual story.
No offense to Lena but it's ridiculous to try to impose a moralism or ideal onto anything having to do with heavy metal. No offense to heavy metal fans, but heavy metal isn't (as I see it) the most idealistic of genres of anything. It's not really as much that the women being as such in the game was stupid as it was that all metal (to me) is stupid.
Now on the other hand, it's also stupid to assume in a heavy metal game that sexy women wouldn't have brains or be badass just because they act sexy(or slutty). Last I checked sexiness(or sluttiness even) and brains can go together or maybe Lena can correct me on that. I could be wrong, maybe women can only have one of those at the same time? However, I don't think that's the case. I think she assumed a lot and too fast, and tried the equivalent of adding messages about world peace into 80's action movies. When it comes to heavy metal, the image of being surrounded by sluts is designed to make whomever look "badass". It might be retarded, but its there because of that.
NOTE: If heavy metal didn't stereotype women maybe I would like it more, because I do believe sexiness and brains should come in the same package. And in the end the whole discussion is irrelevant because there WAS a better female main.
EDIT 2: With metal the way it is, we're lucky we GOT a badass female main with brains. We're lucky it was a game by Tim Schafer, eh?
