Red face Pizza Morgana: New Episodic Adventure Game!

Hey Telltalian Forumites!

My name is Oded, and I have an adventure game studio in Israel and we just launched our first installment in our episodic game series "Pizza Morgana"!
We've had many help from the guys here at telltale with making the game, especially Kevin Burner, Dan Connors and Dave Grossman who gave us tips, and advice, very early on in the game development and showed us their love and support for fellow adventure game developers.

So get ready for order-in comedy with Pizza Morgana, a new episodic adventure game series from Corbomite Games, that debuted this week at: http://pizza-morgana.com. Monsters and Manipulations in The Magical Forest, the first of five digitally distributed games, is now available for $8.95. The full season price is $34.95 and additional episodes will be delivered over the next several months.

Pizza Morgana is a new comedy that will make you drop your toppings off. It lets you play the charming tale of a young girl who is accidentally teleported into a magical dimension filled with monsters, vampires, faeries, and daemons, which all just happen to be employed as pizza delivery guys.

In the first episode you get to play through the events that lead to Jackie's teleportation into the world of TerraMagia and thereafter. This episode also introduces Abbie Positive, the pizza delivery vampire that acts as Jackie's guide through the magical world, and a Watcher, who is like a robotic hybrid cop that enforces TerraMagian laws. Enjoy multi-linear game play with hilarious consequences by playing parts of the game as Jackie or as Abbie Positive, the vampire.

Pizza Morgana also features the voices of some famous Hollywood actors: Mia Alon as Jackie, Claudia Christian as Abbie Positive, and Robin Atkin Downes as the Watcher. Among their many onscreen and in-game appearances, both Claudia Christian and Robin Atkin Downes are Babylon 5 alumni, and veteran voice recording actors in the game industry.

You can check out gameplay video at our video gallery page:

Now, go, play, have fun, and tell us what you think!

Well, this is just blatant advertising. Tut-tut.

Had a look at it anyway. I find it hard to believe this is made in AGS, given how fancy it looks. That said, the graphic don't really bear up to close-up scrutiny, but whatever. My major problem is that the voice of the lead character is extremely annoying, so no deal.

I would probably give it a whirl if it was free - kinda looks like a fan game. (No offense)

Darth Marsden:
Well, it's not really advertising, but shameless self promotion. (how else would people know about it ?)
One of the things that kept me busy during the game's production was playing Tales of Monkey Island...
Its not made in AGS. It had been done with Wintermute engine a very good engine that gives you high resolutions and 3d characters.

Toothless Gibbon: did you play the demo?

Fair enough, that's my bad. You just mention an Adventure Game Studio and I thought... well, you get the idea.

I gave the demo a try and my initial predictions were bang on the money. The 3D models are nice, but really don't hold up very well when looked at close up, which the game tends to do on a rather frequent basis. Also, while it's great hearing the voice of Susan Ivanova, the lead character (Jackie) has an extremely annoying voice that really does put me off the character, and by extension the game.

That said, I did like having a reminder of your immediate goal in the top left. I can think of certain other adventure games that could use a feature like that. Might want to avoid drawing quite so much attention to it though. Things like that work best as a reminder.

In bullet points:

- I liked the main menu with the fridge magnets. Seemed fitting.
- The option to skip lines of dialogue doesn't work. Lift-clicking does nothing. On a related note, I couldn't skip cutscenes, as pressing Escape just brought up the main menu.
- The voice in the tutorial is too quiet by default. Hard to hear.
- The game actually froze on me while I was trying to adjust the music FX. This may be a one-off, but even so...

And you could make it a little clearer on your website that the first episode can also be used as a demo. I didn't see it mentioned anywhere.

I'm sorry to hear that you don't like Jackie's voice, but i think that she did a good job for the role.
in episode 2 we're greatly improving the 3d characters (especially close ups) and length.
We've done some other innovative stuff as far as adventure games go in the rest of the episode (and even mode in episode2)

thanks for the comments, we're taking everything into consideration, including bugs and user suggestions.
as to the skipping of dialog lines and skipping with escape - that's a disabled feature in the demo, those who'll but the full game will enjoy the luxury of skipping.

Again, the demo-only features are worth mentioning, if not in the game, that at least on the webpage where you can download the demo. Otherwise, what's the point of having them?

Apart from that, it seems like a nice little game, just not quite for me.

Interesting, looks like a living comic book in quite the literal sense. The screenshots look a little busy, though, and hard to tell what's what. It'd probably be different playing in game though anyway. I'll give the demo a go as soon as I have some spare time. Good to see other up and coming adventure developers inspired by TTG, though. Hope both your games work out and become successes.

So is it a virus? Or is it safe? I'm a sucker for adventure games, looks descent from the very short trailer.

Here is a page full of videos of the game

This thread seems to have suffered a nasty bump.

We're cool with people talking up their game projects here, but if the discussion peters out, please let it.
