That has the potential to be the worst of all possible worlds, as far as I'm concerned. Realize that it's been NINE YEARS since their last Monkey Island game, and that was ESCAPE.
Since then, LucasArts has been through several cycles of layoffs and hiring, internal development and relying on external development. I don't think there's anybody connected to their adventure game past is over there anymore, and a lot of new blood that has never had anything to do with an adventure game works there now.
Granted this could be a good thing, but it's a wild card, like giving the game to any random company. Telltale has a LOT more in common with old LucasArts than LucasArts does, a lot more names. LucasArts, right now, is just a name as far as the Monkey Island series goes.
