Default Morgan Thread #3,094,657

Finished ToMI3 in an evening and a half. Thank you all who helped me through the Face-Off -- which, I maintain, was a totally sucky, boring puzzle!

Nonetheless, I think ToMI3 has been my fave of the first three so far. (Best to worst so far: 3, 1, 2.)

Major complaint on 3 (besides the sucky, boring Face-Off): too few locations. I know this has been covered before elsewhere, so I'll let it lie there, while adding my "Aye!" (or "Arrrrr!").

So, about Morgan... Could be half the reason I liked #3 so much was the HULLO!Guybrush!InYourFace! revelation that Morgan's in love with our Guy -- while not acting the part of the helpless, demure, know-nothing female. Added quite a nice twist -- not that it was hard to see coming, but I didn't think she was going to be quite so obvious about it. Refreshing, really.

(Telltale, you listening?)

I never did like Elaine. She's always treated Guy like a twit. Whether he is a twit or not doesn't matter -- he's our boy, and he deserves far better than that self-righteous governor-thing.

Morgan, now, she challenges Guy without running his ego, self-esteem, and simple dignity through the ringer (as does Elaine).

Which is quite sexy.

Get what I'm saying? Dump Elaine -- let her turn into a bloody ghost-governor to romp with LeChuck throughout hellish eternity for all I care (actually, I would care -- I'd like that very much!), and continue the hot-hot tension between Guy and Morgan.

No, no -- don't let G&M... uh, consummate their love by the end of ToMI5! Let the ToMI5 cliffhanger leave us wondering if G&M will ever find true love!

We have to have a ToMI6 -- or, preferably, a MI5.

I understand the concept of five episodes -- keeps the new kiddies coming back for more (I"m one of those ancient 20-year players) -- but if there's one thing that bothers me about ToMI, it's that I feel robbed of playing one, long, epic adventure. I miss that -- a lot. (Maniac Flippin' Mansion takes longer than a single ep of ToMI!)

When I get to the end of a ToMI ep, I don't feel as though I've accomplished anything -- I feel as though I'm just getting started (and have just been cut off).

MI1 through MI4: You went from A to Z, while following any number of paths (A to M to G to L to N to V to... Z).

ToMI: Every episode, you MUST go from A to Z in a very linear fashion, before you can go on to the next episode. It's like five "bottlenecks" between A and Z. (Anyone not understand my shorthand thinking here?)

I agree Morgan brought some fresh air to the series. I doubt the game would've been as fascinating if Morgan had been a guy. Also, Guybrush spent more time with Morgan in ep3 than with Elaine in both ep 1+2 together which doesn't feel right; why is it Elaine never stays with Guy more than few moments.

Then I started thinking (a bit off topic) 'But what if...' if there was connection between Elaine and Morgan...
I recall reading about Morgan La Fay in Avalon & King Arthur. This Morgan had a sister 'Elaine' (coincidence?). Back in MI, both Morgan and Elaine have green eyes, so it could be possible they're related. Then again Guybrush have mentioned Elaine while in presence of Morgan and she knows they're married so it kinda fails there.

Actually Morgan and Guybrush spent more time in the 3rd episode then Elaine and Guybrush in every single MI game together...
Anyway i think the Face off puzzle was great... i don't know why you spent so much time on it i mean are you stupid not to figure it out ? What i hated is that Manatee pairing.... sooooo retarded... no sentence made any particular sence! In MI games there are usually things i either like or dislike. But this one?.... i fucking HATE it!

Morgan LeFlay concludes every single chapter.
In #1 she threatens Guybrush with her sword then chapter ends.
In #2 she threatens Van Winslow with her sword then a few moments later chapter ends.
In #3 she hits both of them with her sword's hilt then chapter ends.

Who knows if she'll be there through chapter 5.
4 is for sure.

I wasn't crazy about the manatee pairing either...the idea was excellent and in a way similar to insult swordfighting...if the phrases had been better it would have been perfect.

I like Elaine. I just don't think they should have gotten married. The shouldn't be together even. It's just not logical. He is so in love with her, why should she be interested?

And I don't think he should be with Morgan either (as HE isn't in love with HER)

So....you're saying it's not logical that Guybrush and Elaine got married because they love each other`? And Elaine shouldn't be interested in Guybrush because Guybrush is so in love with her?

I think Guybrush's unfaltering love for Elaine is part of what makes him such a likable character. Sure, Morgan may bring a fresh aspect to the storyline, but I think it would cheapen Guybrush as a character.

Just my 2 cents.
