Morgan Thread #3,094,657
Finished ToMI3 in an evening and a half. Thank you all who helped me through the Face-Off -- which, I maintain, was a totally sucky, boring puzzle!
Nonetheless, I think ToMI3 has been my fave of the first three so far. (Best to worst so far: 3, 1, 2.)
Major complaint on 3 (besides the sucky, boring Face-Off): too few locations. I know this has been covered before elsewhere, so I'll let it lie there, while adding my "Aye!" (or "Arrrrr!").
So, about Morgan... Could be half the reason I liked #3 so much was the HULLO!Guybrush!InYourFace! revelation that Morgan's in love with our Guy -- while not acting the part of the helpless, demure, know-nothing female. Added quite a nice twist -- not that it was hard to see coming, but I didn't think she was going to be quite so obvious about it. Refreshing, really.
(Telltale, you listening?)
I never did like Elaine. She's always treated Guy like a twit. Whether he is a twit or not doesn't matter -- he's our boy, and he deserves far better than that self-righteous governor-thing.
Morgan, now, she challenges Guy without running his ego, self-esteem, and simple dignity through the ringer (as does Elaine).
Which is quite sexy.
Get what I'm saying? Dump Elaine -- let her turn into a bloody ghost-governor to romp with LeChuck throughout hellish eternity for all I care (actually, I would care -- I'd like that very much!), and continue the hot-hot tension between Guy and Morgan.
No, no -- don't let G&M... uh, consummate their love by the end of ToMI5! Let the ToMI5 cliffhanger leave us wondering if G&M will ever find true love!
We have to have a ToMI6 -- or, preferably, a MI5.
I understand the concept of five episodes -- keeps the new kiddies coming back for more (I"m one of those ancient 20-year players) -- but if there's one thing that bothers me about ToMI, it's that I feel robbed of playing one, long, epic adventure. I miss that -- a lot. (Maniac Flippin' Mansion takes longer than a single ep of ToMI!)
When I get to the end of a ToMI ep, I don't feel as though I've accomplished anything -- I feel as though I'm just getting started (and have just been cut off).
MI1 through MI4: You went from A to Z, while following any number of paths (A to M to G to L to N to V to... Z).
ToMI: Every episode, you MUST go from A to Z in a very linear fashion, before you can go on to the next episode. It's like five "bottlenecks" between A and Z. (Anyone not understand my shorthand thinking here?)
