I haven't seen any of his anti-SE comments, but I haven't been looking.

But still, professional voice actors are gonna be better than these guys for sure. There's a reason why they're not professionals.

I would much rather see a hack of the SE with the new voices and old graphics over this, I just can't see them pulling it off. Even had the SE not existed, I think this still would have been a failure. Voice acting takes skill, and I doubt it would be up to standard.

The technology to add audio to the original game exists.

Is it not easy to combine the two?

if youre gonna close the people cause a couple people said some mean things about it, then perhaps it wasnt worth making to begin with. Why give up that easily?

yeah giving up like that is really... unexpected.

i just found out of this site last night, and i thought it would be cool to try out. of course, i probably wouldn't make it, but think of all the people who you will be letting down!

I thought this project would vanish with SE. I can't see how the art is bothering you, the voice acting was some of the best I ever heard. At the end of the day it comes to what your audience wants, not what you want. The Monkey Island fan base wanted a voice played cast, they got it WITH skilled pro actors. This project isn't needed as it isn't what people need/want anymore. You got beat to the punch.

And stop acting like Gilbert is god. Yes he did create Monkey Island and yes Lucas Arts did create a remake. Ron wasn't against it. He was for it, you can tell in his blog and interviews. Stop making it sound like he is some sort of anti-MI3Plus cult leader.

The people who act like Ron has a problem with the new Monkey Island games are looking for what they want to see.

Yes, but there is a patch project underway that rips the speech and the original SMI from SMI:SE and throws it into a special version of ScummVM that will allow the original SMI to use the SMI:SE voices. All you need to own is SMI:SE. Apparently they've just got a few things to iron out and it'll be finished. Things have slowed to a crawl, though.

I can understand wanting to finish a project that was started long before SMI:SE was conceived (or at least finished), but either way I'm anticipating the SMI:SE-to-ScummVM speech patch more than the speech project at this point.
