It has to be...

....Carla that Guybrush meets in the last moments of the game, doesn't it? Or am I forgetting someone?

For some reason, the first person that came to mind was Kate Capsize.

For all we know it's a completely new character. I know they said "a long time", but that doesn't neccesarily mean we've seen them before (*coughs* mack salmon *cough*)

It absolutely *could* be a new character. If it is, though, keeping her face from view creates false suspense and will only lead to disdain later. Not from me, but I know plenty of people here won't be happy.

I actually didn't care about the sword wielder at the the end; LeChuck and Elaine were the draw of the ending for me: LeChuck may have his humanity back, but I think he's behind a lot more. He might have intended for all this to happen: the Caribbean become his zombie minions and can't do any harm to him, he gets his old looks back, and a better chance with Elaine (hence Elaine saying wolf when she saw him). Overall, I want to know more about what LeChuck will do.

It's Wally B. Feed!

Over the years Guybrush has tormented this little guy, and the last we saw of him was in LeChuck's amusement park, trapped on the roller coaster of death.

Also, his small stature and high pitched voice fit with this theory. I knew it was him immediately.

Don't you kind of think it might be Morgan Le Flay, Pirate Hunter Extraordinaire? Out hunting a Mighty Pirate?

Sure, everyone you show the flier to uses a male pronoun - but no one can describe what Captain Morgan (heh) looks like - and the namesake's definitely a lady type.

With an ending like that, I'm hoping its someone we're all familiar with.

My thought was, whoever the sword wielder is, it may be a temptation for Mr. Threepwood. Think about it: the pox transferred some of LeChuck's evilness to Guybrush. It's logical to think maybe some of Guybrush's sweetness (and humanity, obviously) transferred to LeChuck. Thus LeChuck is being all lovey-dovey to Elaine, who loves it, and Guybrush gives into his new LeChuckian dark side by going after another woman!

Well, I thought it was a good plot twist, anyway...

I thought Carla as well. She certainly has enough reasons to hate him at this point. But Kate is another great guess.

It can't be Carla or Kate Capsize, they are both as tall as Guybrush, and the sword is clearly held by a very short person. Carla already kinda made her peace with Guybrush in EFMI, for the most part. I don't see why she'd be venturing across the ocean to track down Guybrush.

Kate is such a minor character, why would she be coming back, when there are so many more beloved characters that we haven't seen for ages? She was just an obstacle to overcome in MI2, and had no interesting characteristics. Why would her reappearance make for such a cliffhanger ending?

The mystery person HAS to be Wally! He has the motive, voice, stature, and hasn't been seen since CMI. He's one of the main characters of the Monkey Island series, much more important than Kate. They could continue his character arch; Wally attempts to be more pirate-like, and captures Guybrush, something he couldn't handle in CMI. It all fits.
