Getting close to release now! "Next week" according to the homepage. Woohoo!

Of course, we knew it had to be next week anyway.

My heart is racing as the wait gets shorter and shorter! 8^O
Hope them ribs can withstand the pounding! ;^)

As for my thoughts and speculations, -

I say 30th release date.

Also, I was wondering if you get to play LaChuck (maybe not on the whole game) on a rescue mission.
Maybe LaChuck tackles De Singe and gets the pox injection needle in doing so. De Singe destroys the sponge so that no cure exists. You save Guybrush but getting the pox back. Thus, the story comes full circle in Monkey Island games after With LaChuck once again evil!

As for Elaine and Morgan?

I've no clue, but it'll be interesting to see what happens to them...

I'm not the only one to notice that the chapter 4 synopsis has been posted up, am I? well, either way, I haven't seen it on this thread yet, so:

Guybrush returns to Flotsam Island, but forget about a hero's welcome. Handed over to De Singe by the backstabbing Morgan LeFlay, Guybrush is seized by an angry mob and put on trial! With a silk-tongued prosecutor in his face and a hangman's noose dangling over his neck, Guybrush must figure out how to defend himself against grave accusations. Meanwhile, the determined Marquis sets his sights on a new and far more attractive test subject. How on earth will the Mighty Pirate get out of this mess? The monthly Tales of Monkey Island tension continues to mount in "The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood." Brace yourself for a shocking revelation that will rock the world of Monkey Island to its core.

So, my guesses are that Stan's not the defense we'd been hoping for Guybrush, and Elaine winds up in the clutches of De Singe. Guybrush will inevitably escape to try to save his wife, but what's the big shocker at the end? But whatever DOES happen, I'm ridiculously excited for it! So close!

Hey, yeah! Because Guybrush is no longer of any use to DeSinge now because he no longer has the pox, meaning that he will now go after Elaine! The knowledge that DeSinge will gain from his experiments will make him a PIRATE GOD!... that's my guess anyway.

Having now seen the the new TTG homepage, the fact that the Judges bench has a skull and crossbones on it makes me think that Guybrush isn't being charged with piracy.

Interesting idea! Well, in Curse of Monkey Island, he tried to set up Haggis with "his sister", so... why not?

... And in Revenge, he mentions a dollhouse that his sister used to have. But that was mainly a cover-up.

Leaves me with the question: What will LeChuck do to save Elaine? Or will he do anything at all because this is part of his master plan?

I wonder exactly what De Singe's elixir will do. If it can give people immortality and power without making them undead, wouldn't that be perfect for LeChuck? He likes the fact that he looks handsome, charming, and clean, but also misses his powers to crush armies and kill people. If he uses the elixir to become immortal, he may be working with De Singe and is giving him Elaine to perfect the formula and then take her back to turn her into his poxed bride.

The fact that De Singe has access to Elaine seemingly can mean that she is on the island with LeChuck. Why would LeChuck be there unless he has something planned. Perhaps he once went to Flotsam to get some monkeys and met De Singe there. Now he's using the monkeys as yet another excuse to go to Flotsam.

Nice theory there, darknessofheart. Like De Singe said: "La mort es tué" - Death is beaten. It's most likely that the elixir will offer immortality to anyone who drinks (?) it. I actually didn't think about a link to LeChuck here, missing his former powers, referring to the scene where he's beaten up by the pox ridden pirates on Spoon Isle. That might explain why he's holding back his evil mind, playing nice 24/7 - one wrong step and he might die a human death which will be irrevocable. Perhaps this is also why he's treating Elaine so patiently during her episodes, she might as well attack him while under the pox (as Guybrush did with Bugeye).

Also, your words remind me of what Guybrush said to LeChuck in the opening scene of EP1: "If evil is always evolving - why doesn't it evolve in something less butt-ugly?" Well, there we go: LeChuck took his advice. ;-)

I still don't see why a nice, clean and handsome LeChuck would want a poxed Elaine as his bride. Maybe once De Singe is done with extracting the pox from her (IF he gets that far, that is) she will be freed from the pox?

I'm also curious as to how Elaine will fall into De Singe's hands - if she does (the synopsis just speaks of him having another subject in sight).

There are quite a few possible reasons why LeChuck and Elaine will go to Flotsam. Apart from the possibility of LeChuck having a deal with De Singe, the winds might just pull them in as they get too close to the island.
Or, since they didn't find Guybrush in Spinner Cay where they separated, they head for "that island he spoke of with the winds blowing inward."

Also, they might head for Flotsam for the fact that there is a doctor who might help Elaine with "whatever she has come down with." We saw that LeChuck is keeping Elaine in the dark about the fact that she's got the pox, nor does she seem to realize it herself. As far as she goes, she just doesn't feel too good and has that strange cough.
That is: She might go there voluntarily.

I can also imagine a scene of De Singe on his balcony, watching LeChuck and Elaine arriving at the docks and becoming witness of an outbreak of her pox. That being right after he realizes that Guybrush is cured, thus useless to him (and being whisked away to court anyway). He would then assign Morgan (still being around after delivering Guybrush to him) to go get Elaine.

We remember Morgan spitting out Elaine's name in disgust at the end of EP2. She has a reason to hate Elaine so she will gladly accept to take her in.
Whatever common past there might be of these two, it should be revealed in EP4. I personally dislike the idea of a girlfight in a Monkey Island game, but, well, I think a confrontation between Morgan and Elaine is inevitable (and I guess some of the boys here will enjoy a catfight scene between them).

All this being only a theory, of course. ;-)

Very good ideas. As to why LeChuck would want Elaine poxed, there could be several reasons. One is that the pox is what is driving Elaine to fall for him, perhaps once they are hitched and Guybrush is "dead", then he will cure her. Another reason is that if LeChuck is really behind everything, then he is still a pure evil incarnate villain. He would love to have Elaine enjoy in what he does, torture, mass murder, psychotic piracy, taking over the seas, and just committing millions of inhuman crimes.

I can picture LeChuck made a deal with De Singe to create the elixir, as he was planning to become a human but would soon want to acquire his old powers again while still remaining a human. I think he is controlling the monkeys to find secrets throughout the islands and is collecting them as he is returning the monkeys and is planning on combining them with the elixir to become a pirate god. Now that Guybrush is cured (although I still want to know why his case was special as De Singe said many times), Elaine is the only reliable test subject, so LeChuck gives her to De Singe and steals the sponge. He manipulated Guybrush to find it for him to insure nothing stops the pox and he can control all of the inhabitants of the seas. I also believe LeChuck set up the trail and is manipulating it through the pox.

All a theory, but if it's true, this is a true genius master plan. I'm hoping LeChuck is this eerily smart and evil, it's time for that pure evil flame to burn forth again. After Escape, LeChuck deserves to be the main threat again even though it's debatable if he was the main villain in Escape or not.

Mermaid, there's a serious problem with your theory - the winds aren't blowing inward anymore.

Well, Guybrush was able to get back, perhaps De Singe found a way to reverse the winds again.

Due to the spacing in regidor dragon's post, I just read it as such
