So I wonder will we be some form of "ghost Guybrush" in a paranormal world with "undead" versions of our inventory... Or will we be playing as Guybrush's undead re-animated corpse in the regular world, with our regular inventory?

Also if Guybrush is a ghost, will his nose be red?

I'm guessing a re-animated body because of Morgan's disappearance.

Ooh, what if the ring absorbed the pox and would grant its wearer power/invulnerability?

So I haven't read the whole topic throughly, but I did skim it and some people think the ring will be used to resurrect Guybrush. However, I suggest this may not be the case. Remember in Monkey Island 2 how they revived LeChuck? They used a living part of him, which was his beard. Guybrush's ex-poxed hand, the one that was cut off, is now a living part of Guybrush. I suggest it may be used to revive Guybrush the same as they use the beard to revive LeChuck. Hopefully he won't revive with LeChuck's putrid skin. Maybe that's the reason for the ring. His skin...

The problem with that is that it seems likely that Guybrush's hand became a dead severed appendage after the pox was cured. There's not anything to indicate that the hand was somehow shielded from being cured when everyone else was, so it's probably just sitting in the jungle somewhere, dead.

Though that Nintendo Power interview did mention that his hand would be dealt with somehow...

I wonder if I'm the only one who really, really hopes he keeps that hook.

It could still be alive, just friendlier because it doesn't have the pox anymore.

Uh, I just realized the contradiction here. How could the ring have been in our inventory, if it's been on his disembodied hand, in possession of DeSinge, the whole time??!

Guybrush's ring was on his hand not Elaine's

Your answer didn't quite make sense at first, but I forgot that was Elaine's ring he's got in his pocket.

Maybe its not that Guybrush has the ring, maybe its just that Elaine hasn't got the ring....

Does that make sense?

Actually, for the first person to be infected (hinted to be because of his close proximity to the pox explosion in the 1st episode), Guybrush seems much more resistant compared to the other characters whose infection seemed much more severe (and who raged out more often) than he did. It didn't even affect his skin until Ep 3, and by that time he met many characters who had given over completely to the pox. And Elaine seemed remarkably healthy as well, despite being close to the explosion, and only showed symptoms after she gave the ring away. She seemed great until after that. So you may have a point. I think it is meant to say something about Guybrush's innate goodness or something. Who knows?

No, I don't think TTG has been given that much power with the franchise to kill off LA's characters and totally rewrite the saga. I almost thought maybe with Lechuck, yes, but...
