Katamari does have some catchy songs, I agree. But majority of them are just plain weird. XD

The Legend of Zelda : Wind Waker has some beautiful songs in it. (well heck, I guess all Zeldas have, but WW had some special.. catchyness in its tunes.)

And Assassin's Creed 1 and 2. I love the music in both of them! I could listen to 'Ezio's Family' one from AC2 like million times, and still gets shivers from its epicness every single time.

oh, and Lair. Underrated game as it was, the soundtrack was just plain beautiful

Ok fair enough. But I'm not passing final judgement on that until I play the game all the way through. And Danny has done some great work outside of Burton films. Besides Batman I'm not actually impressed with any of his Burton scores. But that's only because Burton makes him compose in a certain way. He also did Spiderman which is excellent as well.

As for favourite film composer, that's gotta be Jerry Goldsmith hands down. John Williams is good but can get boring quickly. Goldsmith's work is always a treat for the ears. His scores from the Star Trek films (including theme songs for TNG and Voyager) for instance are quite memorable.

I'm not just saying this cos it's a Telltale forum, but I like Jared. He's very versatile and there's always something in all of his pieces that makes me smile

That's not too bad. Quite a few of the well-known composers for Japanese games have gone freelance (Nobuo Uematsu and Yasunori Mitsuda immediately come to mind).

Metal Gear Solid (all of them) have excellent sountracks. Most of the Final Fantasys have fantastic music, but FFVII and FFIX are just outstanding. There's also Monkey Island (2 is the best) and Fate of Atlantis, not to mention the recent big hitters like Uncharted.

I wouldn't call having a collection of songs from well-known artists having a good soundtrack (GTA, Brutal Legend, FIFA), even if the songs are good. I'm much more easily impressed by original soundtracks, composed particularly for that game. I don't hear Ozzy's Diary of a Madman and then go "yeah, that game had a great soundtrack". That would just be dumb.

I would like to add Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. Even tho the game itself was pure crap IMO (they even consider it 'adventure' at some places), the music was the one redeeming aspect. Main Title Music

I've just been playing Braid again while I wait for ToMI Chapter 5 and I forgot how good the music is. I love it all.

Apparently Modern Warfare 2's soundtrack's composed by Hans Zimmer, the brilliant musician behind Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Crimson Tide and Kingdom of Heaven. This is the first bit of interesting news I've heard about that game.

The score sucks. I really didn't recognize Hans.
