Default Game recommendation after Monkey island

I just finished Monkey Island with my kids age 8 and 6 and they thought it was great! They couldn't wait for the next episode to come out every month. For the most part, the humor and jokes were not bad and I would consider the game to be "family friendly". What other games would others recommend that would be good for us all to play next?

Thanks,
Steve

I had a lot of fun playing Wallace & Gromit's Grand Adventures, and I imagine it'd be perfect for kids.

Seconded. They may find the jokes a bit too dry, but they'll likely be captivated by the faux-clay style and Gromit just being Gromit.

I would probably steer away from Sam & Max, though. It's not overly offensive or anything, but it's just suggestive enough that I'd be cautious. Your mileage may vary.

Did you play the original Monkey Islands? They're the best.

I second the original Monkey Islands. Give the Special Edition of the first one a try, it's on sale on Steam ATM.

I think MI:SE might look a little bland for young children. I'd suggest hunting down a copy of Curse of Monkey Island on ebay. Definately the best in the series (bar ToMI) on the eyes!

And I second W&G. A british favourite for children and adults alike!

I'd say pick up Monkey Island Special edition (i think it's £5 from Steam), and buy Curse of Monkey Island from ebay. If you do decide to pick up curse (and you should, it's the best of the bunch), you will need to download SCUMMVM to get it working properly.

Alternatively, you could pick up Wallace and Gromit. Whilst i have only picked up one episode myself, i thoroughly enjoyed it, and the humour was family friendly.

Definitely Curse. It's art style, soundtrack and story are BEAUTIFUL! If you liked Tales, Curse would be a good follow up. Especially since it has many of the same voice actors too!

From friends with kids about that age, the Wallace & Gromit games went over the best. Depending on your kids they might also like Strong Bad.

From the LucasArts catalog, both Curse of Monkey Island and Day of the Tentacle are worth checking out

Yeah, thats quite popular amongst younger people (year seven of school age). See if they like the internet cartoon series of the same name first.

also, so you guys would all reccomend monkey island special edition, because I have 800 points on my 360 and was wondering how good of a game it is. Mainly is the humor basicly the same as tales, and are the puzzles harder/easier/the same as tales.

The humour in SMI:SE is very much the same as Tales, and the puzzles are harder (which is no bad thing). If you haven't played the original at all, it's definitely worth getting.

This. The puzzles are harder, but the hints are better. Instead of "i should go steal some treasure. Arr!" in Tales, you get progressive hints, culminating in "maybe i should go check out the X in X".

As for length, it's about 8 hours, for the seasoned adventurer.

Don't we all.
I'm betting that it will be announced in march. Afterall, they said (LA) that they had exciting news for MI fans in march (or so i read in Retrogamer's MI feature last month)
