Everyone has become so anonymous all the sudden lol. It's usually my first inclination to look at the avatars to see who's saying what. I still don't know everybody by handle only

As I've said before: if you were intentionally not following it, then you're still following other people, just not the same ones.

My bro-in-law learned that in college. He tried hard to wear stuff that would stand out when he was in high school, but in college he found that many other people did the exact same thing in the same manner for the same reason, so he was then still following people, just a different group.

I chose to make mine a screenie of the bugeye from ToMI. Though that would seem the most obvious thing to do, noone else did it.

And you're still a slave, just to your own sense of defiance to the norm.

No, I'd rather have an avatar that truly represents me, and be myself, than try to look and act like whoever my avatar happens to be.

You could always draw one in MSPaint, or perhaps shop a picture of yourself into unrecognizable awesomeness. Barring that, geometric patterns based upon subconscious thought. Really, the sky is the limit - or as we say in Rapture - the surface of the ocean is the limit.

For myself, I woudl say that if I'm going out of my way to fit in with a bunch of other adventure gamers, then so be it. It's not like I have very many gamer friends IRL, so if this is where I know other people who appreciate the same hobby I have then I'm justified in having fun and fitting in, because I'll have the same hobby whether I'm here or not so I'm content to be a part of what goes on around here.
