Default Turtles Forever

I don't know if anyone likes the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but seeing as it's one of my favorite childhood series, I thought I'd check.

I'm not into the new series at all, but I thought I'd check this new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Forever feature, seeing as it had the 80's Turtles in it.
I gotta say it's pretty awesome!
If you ignore the voices of the old characters that are sometimes totally off, it's quite a funny feature.
The different art styles are handled pretty well, I was laughing out loud when they got to the 80's Turtles universe. Only then did I realise how weird some of those people are designed.
The whole throwback to the Turtles origin was pretty awesome too. I wonder how Eastman and Laird felt about their pencil drawings finally coming to life.
All in all, it's a pretty funny, if kinda short, movie, and people will at least recognise a few things that will wake the sweet cloud of nostalgia.

The only problem I have with the thing, apart from not getting the original voice actors, is the budget.
All of it looks pretty good, but I would have loved if even more versions of the Turtles were there. Imagine the original movie Turtles having a cameo or something!
Of course I do realise that this would be impossible to do on a non-super-big-hollywood-producion basis. So I forgive them.
They could have spend some extra money for the original actors and tunes though. I would've loved hearing the old tada-tada-dum-dum after a fight.

I just watched that the other night! All I can say is that it's freaking genius. My flatmate and I both thought it was hilarious, we both cracked up when they went to the 80s Turtles universe and the 80s Turtles explained that they had to save April every day, you can set your watch to it.

The movie turtles DID get a cameo, sort of. They are on one of the Shredder's floating universe screens.

Personally, I would have preferred a gritty comic-universe DVD movie, but I'll take what I can get.

Yeah, I liked them being in the cameo.
But wouldn't it be great if they would be fighting next to each other?
The first movie Turtles still are my favorite!

*is confused*
Are you on about the movie from a couple of years back?

Factoid: The 80's series was called Teenage Mutant Hero turtles here in the UK, as Ninja's were deemed too violent.

Factoid: in France, TMNT are just "Ninja Turtles". They obviously thought it was too long otherwise.

As a result, I never realised they were supposed to be teenagers, incidentally.

No, I'm talking about this.
It's a celebratory movie for the Turtles 25th birthday.
It conjoins the 80's Turtles with the 2003 Turtles in their battle against Shredder.

Factoid: The 80's series was called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles here in the Netherlands too. But we kept Michelangelo's Nunchaku's!

Factoid: I can't read the words "teenage mutant hero/ninja turtles" Without the theme song erupting in my mind.

Some people didn't?
We had costumes as a kid. I was Michelangelo. Wouldn't have liked going without my nunchakus!
I like Raffaello's weird knives too though.

Raphael has always been my favorite.
They actually censored the Nunchaku's in Britain, which cuts a lot of Michelangelo's great moments. If you watch the first three seasons you see them appearing less and less, because the animators wanted to keep Michelangelo in, until they truly changed it by giving him a grappling hook in season 4.

Actually, I read somewhere that at the end of the first movie, in Britain Shredder just runs off the roof into the trashcan. Pretty lame ending if you ask me.

I think the nunchaku's were filtered out because Youth gang culture was rising, and so were their (the nunchaku's) popularity.

Oh, and i'll try tracking that movie down later. I hated what i saw of the new TMNT stuff (i went into a nostalgia induced rage!), but i'm glad to here they included the old turtles. *hums tune*

I never saw the 2003 turtles, but I did love the old cartoon when I was a kid. I also had tons of turtles action figures . This 2003 special sounds entertaining though, I should check it out.

Yeah this was a great special. I was skeptical but it turned out okay. I just kind of wish Casey Jones had more to do. I can definitely say that this movie blew TMNT out of the water.

Yeah, the fourth wall breaking and the characters' reactions were pretty hilarious!
I love it when they pull stuff like this!

I used to watch the old cartoons when I was a kid, in the early '90s. Loved it, even though I can't remember that much about many of the episodes now. For some reason I can remember the introduction sequence and theme music really easily though; it was catchy.

Turtles in a half-shell!

Anyway, i just watched the Turtles forever thing, and really enjoyed it. The replacement Voice actors did a great job of doing the 80's turtles! Although that could be because i haven't watched an actual episode in so long. I forgot how funny they were! I still don't like the new turtles though.Too gritty (i guess more like the very originals, buut still).
