So the city of Wittenberg has nominated Pussy Riot for the Martin Luther Award. Religious and conservative voices protest, the "religious dimension" of Pussy Riot's deeds had supposedly been ignored in this decision. "Luther towns should not honor blasphemy" is the argument. "They protested at the wrong place" is another. So where do you protest against the amalgamation of state and religion if not in a church? I mean, they can't really get into the Kreml for that. A third argument actually is that the translation of the band's name is offensive. WHAT, REALLY?
The Award "The Dauntless Word" is traditionally given to women and men who "are ready to take rigor into account for dauntless appearance". Fits like a glove in my opinion.
Good thing Martin Luther always shut his gob concerning religious matters. When that guy saw anything wrong with his church, he probably just looked the other way instead of writing his own fucking bible. In any other case, all this outrage would look like the purest bigotry.
Wake the fuck up, Friedrich Schorlemmer. We have to make clear to Russian fundamentalists where we stand. Pussy Riot have protested against a corrupt and depraved religious system,
exactly like the 'blasphemous' Martin Luther. You can't just duck and cover. Outrage right back at you.
