Time to tell a science joke!

What mathematical equation can be used to approximate a werewolf at the full moon?

A furrier transform.

Just read about EA's latest DRM and SimCity related PR desaster. There'll be some interesting press relases next year. Mass layoffs instead of Mass Effect.

These fuckers aren't going down, they have too much capital.
But BOY WILL THESE ASSHOLES SHRINK.

You never know.

It only takes one stupid mistake to screw a big company like that over.

I mean THQ killed themselves with Udraw.

I wish they would come right out and admit that always-on DRM for any otherwise single-player game is the stupidest move they could have made.

The funny thing is, I bet a lot of people would have been fine if these companies just make the online/multiplayer functions of the game have DRM, maybe they would have bought multiplayer dlc too, but when people expect a title to be singleplayer based, (and its likely Sim city was advertised that way), they expect that part of the game to be fully featured and accessible locally.

That's is where EA (and UbiSoft) fail dramatically at, and where the backlash is coming from.
(Because once you rely on server side online, it puts the company, not the consumer in the driving seat. Its an uncomfortable position for a customer to be in. To have no control over when the game experience ends. What if they want to play it a couple of years down the line and the company has already pulled the kill switch? A wasted purchase and a ruined experience. That's what it is)

I'm not sure even EA can buy their way out of this one. The PC community is very vocal and unforgetting.
I wouldn't be surprised to see EA pull back their PC strategy a little and refocus on the new console and mobile markets.

( I mean come on! The only reason people have Origin installed AT ALL is because of their own product exclusives. And they know it. But they certainly aren't learning anything from it. They just seem to assume they will be successful in the end.)

I *still* play SimCity 2000 on occasion. Here's the issue: I liked the upgradable roads and buildings. I liked the idea that cities could specialize and trade. Cities XL does that, from what I understand. But if I want a city area entirely owned and operated by me, with my own cities interacting among themselves, offline, I *can't* do that in the new SimCity. That's like taking away that power in the Sims (where you can own and operate multiple households, swapping between as you like).

Actually I installed it so the EA Update Manager would stop nagging me about it every time I turned on my computer. I give so little of a damn about this that I just wish it would die so I could just uninstall it. and go back to the old update manager

If it weren't for the always online DRM, and the fact that the servers are ass, I'd probably get the new SimCity. I've never been good at SimCity, but that's because I couldn't be assed to learn how to play. I would just build cities, and send in the disasters. Did I mention I was 7 at the time?
The new SimCity looks lovely and the multiplayer aspect is a real draw for me. It's enough for me to actually learn. It's just the always online DRM. What if I'm at my mother's house and I want to show her the game? She doesn't have internet at all. I wouldn't be able to show it to her. Which is sad because she'd love the game.

What about peoples poor mothers, EA? What about our poor mothers? THINK OF THE MOTHERS WHO PLAY YOUR GAMES!
