Default I think Guybrush needs his own ship?

After SOMI, MI2:LR, COMI, EFMI, TOMI Guybrush still fails as a pirate with no ship of his own and lets say also no crew of his own. I certainly know it lends to the usual plot of hiring a ship in each of Monkey Island games. But the question for me is: What's a pirate without a ship? Whats a pirate without being even part of a crew? I hope you guys understand what i mean, and i know it lends to the comedy of the plot, so please lets discuss and vote!!!

Do Guybrush needs a ship and crew?

I think it'd be a bad idea for Guybrush to have a ship...every time he gets one he can't keep it. I also think that's a reason why he doesn't have one. He just can't keep one.

No, he does actually own the Screaming Narwhal. Remember knocked off Winslow, thus earning the captaincy of the vessel. The Screaming Narwhal was there at the end of the game; undamaged and still floating. Guybrush was still the captain of it, and Winslow is still loyal to Guybrush. So I guess he did manage to keep both his ship and his crew (if just one man counts as a crew).

Eh, that doesn't mean anything. At the end of Curse, Guybrush still has the Sea Cucumber as he and Elaine sail off into the sunset. Likewise, depending on what you do with the primitive art(illery), you still own the Sea Monkey at the end of SoMI.

Well clearly he is careless with them between adventures. Or he flogs them on Ebay for some loot.

He has his own ship, Elaine is driving it through 102-103. And he also has The Screaming Narwhal with Winslow. Winslow is the only crew Guybrush ever needs; EVER.

I don't think he lost Sea Cucumber or Dinty Lady. He might have put all of his ships in his ship gallery. We know he likes showing off.

The best ship he had is the sea monkey and the Curse ship. He "destroyed" the 1st one, and his second one was lost due to mutiny. I dont remember what happened with his pink ship, but it was the ugliest ship he had. The ships in TOMI felt too cozy and small to what they actually should be.

Every ship looked the same for me, but i think he needs a ship big and a stable crew. For me his best crew was the 1st crew.

Well... he does need some place to keep his autographed sextant collection. One can't clog the room containing the Idol of Many Hands with an eponymous collection of items.

congratulations, you managed to contradict yourself in record time. The first thing his first crew did was mutiny, remember

I remember this being a complaint after the first episode was released, that the ships were too small, TellTale got their revenge in Chapter 5 though!

I have no problem with the Screaming Narwhal. Size or appearance, it's pretty much perfect and I'd love to see it in future games because I think that it has a lot of character. I just hope that we'll be able to explore the lower deck(s) if we see it in another MI game.

Yes! I was so annoyed that Guybrush wouldn't go below deck. I wanted to see what the Captain's quarters looked like.

Same here. Before each episode, I always thought "damn, I really hope we see the interior of the ship in this next episode", but it never happened. It would've been very nice to see the the lower decks and the quarters, there was potential there for extra scenery, extra puzzles, extra jokes and lines of dialogue, and extra overall enjoyment for the player. Hopefully, when there is a season 2, the Screaming Narwhal will still be Guybrush's ship-of-choice and hopefully Telltale will allow the player to explore the ship instead of having Guybrush say "I'll sleep when I'm dead... or later tonight" among other excuses.

If the Screaming Narwhal is included, you know one thing that I think that one thing that would be rather funny? If there were to be about 3 or 4 lower decks that are really big. I think that'd be quite funny - the ship looking tiny from the outside, but there being a huge interior. I think it would fit great with the humour and vibe of Monkey Island, especially if Guybrush makes small references to it. Not only would it be good as a joke, it would mean more exploration, yay!

That would be hilarious! Very inline with MI humor. There's a lot of things that have been bigger on the inside, Adventure game character's pants, the Tardis, Mary Poppin's bag...

Guybrush could make so many witty comparisons between the ship and his pants.
