Default Should Telltale make a Grim Fandango game?

Following in the wake of Telltale's sequels to classic LucasArts games Sam & Max and Monkey Island, the next on their list should be the classic Grim Fandango. Do you agree?

(This poll doubles as a petition.)

You should have an option: "No, but I'd buy it if they did". I don't think it needs a sequel. Could definitely work though.

I'd buy it if they did, but it doesn't seem to need a sequel.

I've said it elsewhere, but I'd like to see Telltale hired to fashion a proper 3D version as a Special Edition remake of the original Grim Fandango for LucasArts, using their lovely Telltale Tool / Engine with higher poly models, hi-res textures, lighting effects, re-recorded music and real 3D environments.

I don't really think that needs to happen either. It wouldn't add enough to the game to warrant itself.

Either what jp-30 said, or an entire new game but in the same setting. The original game and its characters are perfect as they are. I'd love to see some new papier maché skeletons, though.

It's notoriously difficult to get the original game running on newer PCs. A Special Edition remake would not only open the game up to a new market there, but also Xbox / PS3 / Ipad ports etc.

Get a Schafer commentary track on there too, and I'm sold.

Its story is over. A sequel would not work at all.
A remake isnt needed as the game still looks/plays good and it's still easy to find (Amazon have it brand new for £6 ($10-ish) ) and it runs fine on Vista

The only problem I see with that is that the games visuals would suffer. The only thing that was rendered in real-time were the characters. The backgrounds were pre-rendered and for Telltale to match that would most likely mean you would need higher-end hardware to run it.

I would much rather have a Grim Fandango Special Edition that had rerendered graphics in hi-def. But who knows whether all the model files still exist.

There's not really any room for a sequel; Manny and Meche went to the Ninth Underworld - the equivalent of heaven - and a story based in the Ninth Underworld would not be entertaining. The game would have to take place in the same world as the original Grim Fandando, but there would be no reason for Manny and Meche to travel back the the previous world even if they could. The only way that there could be a sequel to Grim Fandango would be to have a new main character, and I don't want that.

No timing issues with some puzzles?

I feel the same: the game doesn't need a sequel, but should a good idea be produced, no doubt I'll go for it. But I feel there are other franchises more worthy of "upgrading" in such a way. To me personally, "Grim Fandango" still looks great and doesn't really need improving.

What timing issues do you encounter, JP? I can install and run the game fine, but I haven't played through it completely yet on my current system so if there's a known problem I'd like to be aware of that before I engage in such an endeavor.

Sadly it doesn't work anymore. :O/

It would be cool if ScummVM would also run the 3d Lucasarts adventures.

Really? I acquired this game at great effort and expense, and found it bug-ridden even with the patch to run it on mdoern comptuers; also too damn difficult and just plain boring, so I gave up and haven't gone back to it in months. Very disappointing.

Great effort and expense? last year I got it brand new for £12 on Amazon.
Try using CPU-killer to get it working.
