No, we figured it out through a series of vague questioning. Apparently someone on the TTG team can't keep a secret very well, even when he's trying NOT to say what it is.

Long story short, we asked if any of the on-screen "deaths" were real, and got a "yes" back. From there we determine that the only death scene we saw that had the potential not to be a real death was Skunkape's abduction by the Sam clones. Everyone else died, including two Sam Clones.

Awwww...I hope not. Papierwaite was one of my favorites, and I wanted to see more of Sal and Stinky's forbidden love and potential grandpa murdering.

That's the general consensus, and ... well, I'm not fairing so great as one of the lone holdouts. We went in circles on this point enough times as it is, so I'll just say the one trick I have left in my bag is that I think there's more left to Sal's story arc than Skun-ka'pe's, with the continuation of Sal's only making sense if he hasn't yet shuffled off this mortal coil. But then I'm not exactly convinced Skun-ka'pe's arc is finished either, and --

Agh. I don't know. It doesn't sit right with me, but there's barely any wiggle room to work with.

... Sigh. You know what. I'm just gonna leave this here.

Because there's still some slim chance this isn't a futile hope after all, right? Right?

I'm 99.9% positive that Sal is still alive (falls don't kill bugs, ambushes with pesticides do!). If not, he'll still be alive in our hearts. XP

I'm pretty sure that anything would die if it falls down a seemingly bottomless pit.

Oh, and if you are going to use that as some kind of silver lining of hope, I don't think Sal can fly. Because, you know, even though roaches have wings, not many of them can fly.

I never thought that Telltale would ACTUALLY KILL ONE OF THEIR CHARACTERS! (The Soda Poppers don't count.)

God, I feel so depressed now. Seriously, I feel as if this huge weight has just been placed on my soul, or something equally poetic.

Quick summary:

In "Bad Day on the Moon," Sam and Max go to the moon. A lot of stuff happens, and in the end, they're being chased and Max gets killed when he's fried by a laser grid. Sam collects his remains, though, and they're able to restructure his DNA to create a new body. So technically, if he dies again and has another body cloned for him, it would be his second.

In season one, when they're reading the newspaper headlines in "Culture Shock," Sam mentions that this years' styles are somehow different from last years', and Max responds by saying "But I still have the brain as last year." Sam corrects him, saying "Actually, you don't. But most people do." He was referring to the fact that Max's current body is artificial.

You know, that never actually made sense to me until just now. I only just this second realized that that would explain a lot of the weirder things said about Max's composition, like the fact he's technically considered a mineral. Hot damn, I'm smart.
