It wouldn't affect winning the race at all, if you have the fastest time in one of the optional games, you will get that achivement, it's just for comparing times really.

Some things:

I'm confused about the "overcome insane odds" Achevement. What does that mean?

Also, if I am still able to start the race early because of school, I hope to do it on 9/1 if possible.

By "Bonus" I meant Extra, it will not affect your ranking.

Well, I sort of doubt it will happen in this race, but in the Monkey Island Race some people were so late in racing that they had to nearly play the whole series in a day.

And the 9/1 date is fine.
