Haha, that's exactly what happened to me... I never paid any mind to orchestral rock until WT, and now it's my preferred genre. Of course, they haven't been "metal" in years, and only sometimes "rock", but it's still a far cry from my old tastes. Now I can hardly stand most generic radio rock, when it used to be all I listened to.

Confession: My formative years were spent listening to pop. Not the good stuff that's considered classic now. I'm talking boy band type pop. I still look back to my childhood with shame. The day a time machine is invented, I'm going back and giving myself my current music collection (transferred to tape, of course ).

If you think that's weird take my progression...

pop - techno - trance - rock - symphonic black metal - psychadelic - symphonic death metal - punk - industrial metal - terror EMB

Wonder what it's next .

I like metal the most like Sonata Arctica, Epica and Disturbed.
I also like hard rock like Lordi.
I'm kind of similar. My car has nothing but Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Epica, Avantasia, and Sonata Arctica cds in it, but today at work all I listened to was Lady Gaga.

Any one like speed/ power metal?

I've re-discovered "Dragonland" in my life. I used to listen to it in High School.

Here's a example of one that I enjoy listening to.

Actually, they re-recorded most of their stuff for higher quality so I'm taking it as a "new album".

Can't find music any where that's reasonable, it's so contrived, it's almost as if they want you to use exclusively Itunes or just rip it all off...

I wish more bands would do that... especially ones that have evolved their sound over the years. Remasters are nice and all, but re-recordings are awesome.

Yeah, but if it's something recorded on analogue equipment they come along and digital it up. Digital's cheap and quick and effective, but it always sounds cold and sterile next to analogue
