I doubt that has anything to do with it. It was about her getting attention, not incriminating somebody or making a certain race of people look bad. Remember, it's unlikely that she filed a report and said "a black woman did this to me" and more likely that the superficial aspects of the imaginary suspect were given when asked for (ethnicity and appearance is a key part of identifying a culprit).
Anyway, I'm anticipating quite a bit of hatred towards this woman when this story starts getting a lot of TV airplay, which is a shame because she's obviously in a state where she craves positive attention. Hopefully she'll get some help before she suffers too much as a result of this.
