Default Cheapest boss characters

Every gamer under the sun has faced a boss characeter in a game that just fights so f***ing dirty that it sends them into a altered state of mind.... a state of mind know as gamer rage (see also: throwing controllers, shouting obscenities, biting the heads off of orphened baby chipmunks). What I want to know is what boss character (Mini-bosses count too) has sent you furthest down that path & what the craziest thing that a boss fight has made you do or say (censor it with *'s if it is super bad.... no need to corrupt the children).

Ooo, hard one. In the end, I think the prize has to go to the twisted and painful Sephiroth from KH2.

Name an SNK fighting game boss, (almost) ANY of them. Gill? Seth? Bison? Those guys are nothing.

The final level of Trine (before the patch). The majority of the game was a thoughtful puzzle-platformer, and then everything changes for the boss and suddenly it's a mad frantic dash that's more about memorization than puzzle solving.

Still a great game, though. I'm not sure if the patch fixed everything (I haven't played it), but it's worth any frustration that's left.

I don't think I've ever played an SNK game, but Tekken and Street Fighter have both had me making up inventive new swearwords at one point or another.

Also, this doesn't really count, but I can only think of one time I've had proper gamer rage and broke something, and that was doing a certain challenge on one of the later Tony Hawk games (I think it might have been American Wasteland).
It was something frustratingly simple-sounding, like "kickflip down these stairs and do a grind, yo" but one little thing about it - it might have been the angle of the board or the timing of the grind - made me fail it in excess of 50 times. I ended up just throwing my controller across the room to get my frustration out and then finishing the challenge on my first try with my newly broken controller.
That poxy, simple little challenge laughed in the face of my gazillion-point combos and hurtled me, kicking, screaming and controller-flailing into manhood. I've never played a Tony Hawk game since. :'(

Edit: Also, I remember being so frustrated with games when I was a kid that I'd bite the controller or try to snap it in half because I didn't want to throw it and risk breaking it... looking back, that just sounds weird. Anyone else ever do that?

Off the top of my head, every boss in every Megaman Legends game was a dirty jerk who loved to knock you over and continue to pummel you until dead.

The final boss in Half Life would repeatedly whisk you off to nasty trap rooms that you had to navigate before you could face him again; and he had one hit kill attacks.

Dark Link from OOT; how much dirtier can you get then copying your opponents moves!?

Cackletta from Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga has the fight start both heroes off with one HP, and she gets to attack first!

the cyborg ninja (Gray Fox) in Metal Gear Solid he deflex bulits jumps round goes invisble teleports and even when u beat him you have to avoid his weird eletric wave and then keep shooting him till hes rly defeated.

Psycho Mantis reading your controler and useing Meryl as a wepion and trying to force her to commit suicide is also dirty as hell..but that boss battle is awesome.

I remember some of the Mario&Luigi bosses as some of the most difficult I've ever played. Especiallly from Superstar Saga and maybe Partners in Time. I found the last one -Bowser's Inside whatever- much easier.

And the first time I played Jedi Knight II, I had serious problems to defeat Galak Fyyar, but I found Dessan dissapointly easy to beat.

If that's the effect those games have on you then you'd write an entire dictionary playing SNK fighters, SPECIALLY the old ones (I dare anyone to beat Art of Fighting 2 without having to exploit the AI and no save states).

Yeah, similiar. I found the original really hard but the most recent two much much easier. Cackletta was brutal, some of the Popple battles were brutal and there were other nasty nasty bosses along the way.

Oh, where do I begin? Seriously, I can't remember any specific examples off the top of my head, I only remember blind rage. Guess I'll have to consult my catalog.

Metal Sonic in Sonic 2. How cruel is it to set up the last level in the game to be nothing but two bosses and no rings? This spot would go to Robotnik's last machine in the game, but I never got past Metal Sonic without using debug mode to give myself some rings, so I never had the opportunity to get frustrated with Robotnik.

However, I did lose my head over Robotnik in Sonic Spinball. With only four levels, the game had a pretty sharp difficulty curve, to the extent that I had a very hard time even getting one of the Chaos Emeralds necessary to reach the boss in the final level. Then when you finally do reach him, it's hard to stay in his area to beat him. To this day, I've only beaten that game by using save states.

Bongo Bongo in Ocarina of Time. I never had a problem getting past any other part of that game, but I was stuck on Bongo Bongo for a very long time my first time through. He's a piece of cake for me now, but back then was a different story.

The Omega Pirate in Metroid Prime. Again, much easier now that I've played the game a few times, but he used to wipe the floor with me.

This one isn't a boss, but it's still one of the most frustrating things I've ever encountered, and it's one of the few remaining insurmountable challenges preventing me from advancing in a game. The damn special stage in Sonic Heroes. I finished levels one and two, but level three has me completely stuck, keeping me from getting the other five Chaos Emeralds and finishing the game.

Lou in Guitar Hero III. The guitar battle with him is the only thing between me and finishing the game on hard.

And...that's about all I can think of right now.

The two times I've been excessively frustrated by a game were sorta minor boss fights.

One was in Knights of the Old Republic II during this mission that only used three side characters to infiltrate this Sith tomb at the end of which waits two Sith masters and a Sith lord. Only one of the characters that I chose was a Jedi, and was a really sucky one at that (this was my first time playing). I spent nearly three hours running Atton (not a Jedi) around in circles taking potshots at the Sith masters and Sith lord until they died. Needless to say, incredibly frustrating.

Another was in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy in the third "act" of academy missions at the end of...another Sith tomb level. This one featured a fight with a double-bladed lightsaber Sith and two dual wielding lightsaber Sith. For some reason, the game kept on glitching like it does and the Sith kept on one-hit killing me. Then, after about an hour, I finally beat two of them and was searching around for the third when I discovered that another glitch had caused him to disappear. I could still hear the conniving bastard but I couldn't actually find him. I couldn't finish the level without killing all of them so, very angrily, I had to restart once again.

Now both of these mini-bosses are pretty easy for me, but those first times were absolutely awful. I did feel accomplished at the end and took very good care saving my game.

I really hate the last two bosses in Sonic Adventure 2. When I finally got around to finishing it it (instead of just playing the stages to farm for Chao stuff) I had 99 lives, and by the time I beat the final boss I had maybe 15 left.

Most of the bosses in Rayman 3 after the Red Lum Factory. That game was hard.

I don't remember the details of the the boss fight, but the fish boss of the water temple in Majora's Mask is the only Zelda boss I never actually managed to beat - had to get someone else to do it for me, and even they had to try like, 12 times, with 3 bottles of fairies each time. have only played through that game once.
