I just bought Puzzle Agent on Steam and when I try and start it, my display shows an "Invalid Format" message. I couldn't find any setup program included in the install to change the resolution and I wasn't able to hand edit the config file to set the resolution.

How can I change the resolution without opening up the game?

Pressing ALT-Enter while you see the message should put the game into windowed mode. Then you should be able to access the menu to change the graphics settings.
