Oh and I think the plot for the next game sounds... interesting. And will almost certainly be released on the 5th of November (guy fawkes/bonfire night: For all you non-brits, it's the british equivalent of Independence day, and aside from sporting events is the only time anyone feels remotely patriotic.)
My point was how it was creative as it's own entity, barely using past monsters and instead using monsters that they made themselves. As opposed to the Colin era, which had Daleks, Cybermen, Sontarans, a multi-doctor, and the Master in just one season. In fact, one story planned for s23 had Autons, Master, Rani, and the Brigadier.

I'm really looking foreward to this doctor now =D

Is this where the show starts getting more streamlined and faster paced? I've heard that after the first few doctors the pace quickened somewhat...

Indeed. Most serials are four parts long. Plus it's in colour, which is always nice.

Downsides to Pertwee's doctor: Budget cuts, and lack of variety in locations due to said budget cuts. I don't think he did any historical serials at all, barring a brief visit to atlantis for half an episode.

*edit* How could I forget "the time warrior"? Well, let's just say "Not many historicals". That'll do.

Actually, Pertwee has mostly 6-7 parters, but the majority of them are really good and you barely notice. Then Tom gets a six-parter a season until Shada is cancelled, then it's 4 or less except for The Two Doctors which is basically a six-parter and Trial if you consider it one story. But the pace does pick up, and Three is great because he has some of the cheesiest action scenes in the entire show.

I'm beginning to think I'm becoming bored of doctor who, the same way I did with video games a year or so ago. I've got half a dozen unwatched classic DVDs just sitting on my shelf, and yet can't seem to bring myself to watch them. In fact, I'm halfway through "The brain of morbius" which is actually deemed pretty decent if memory serves me correctly, and I don't feel compelled to watch it further for any other reason then for the sake of completion. And I've got even more audios sitting untouched! And I haven't been that excited over the current series either. At least nowhere near the level I was back in 2005/2006. I still have an above average interest in the show (to the extent that I am currently wearing this shirt), but it's a bit terrifying to see my interest in something that's a large part of myself seemingly dying.

Hmm... I'm going to blame it on overdosing on the show, I think. This time 3 years ago, the only episodes I'd seen were the 8/9/10 ones (with the movie airing on some channel at some point). Now I've seen so many since I started picking up classic ones and the audios (thanks to the Special hiatus after series 4), it kind of makes them seem a bit... samey.

When I finish the current batch of DVDs and maybe the "...and the pirates" audio, I may be compelled to feel otherwise (if my current feelings toward the show are caused by a string of "meh" serials). That should bring me up to the start of the second half of the current series at least, and then, if I'm not cured, I shall go on a classic series/audio hiatus, not touching the stuff for 6 months.

Dark times. Dark times indeed.

Nostalgia time!

Ah, I remember that. The strumming of fingers signalling that all would be fine.

But yeah, too much Who in one go will tire you out. You have to remember, classic Who was designed to be watched one episode a week, and if you've got a six or seven parter, that's a month and a half right there. Condensing that down into 3 hours or so is not the wisest move.

Finish Morbius, then take a break. Read a book, play a game... hell, watch something else - I recommend Torchwood, currently airing. Once you've had a bit of variety, try coming back. And make sure you take it slow - try one classic adventure (and maybe one audio) a week. That should help you avoid burnout.

Just a small update, I've just about finished spearhead from space (very entertaining so far) And for some reason Pertwee reminds me of Jack Klugman (Quincy M.E., The odd couple) I cannot tell you why, but he does lol

So Torchwood features the first cut scenes this coming episode, with shots of John Barrowman's rear end whilst he is sexing someone being the offended potion and removed from BBC1 broadcast.

Also; tired of Doctor Who? I don't understand.

You sound like a (medical) doctor.
I finished Morbius, and I think it was quite good. Something I'll definitely rewatch and hopefully appreciate more. Also, Paul McGann was narrating the documentary, which was nice. (although I didn't finish it!)

Also.

@silverwolfpet: Curse me for lending my headphones to my sister not five minutes ago! Gah. I'll listen to it later, in the mean time I shall be continue scowling at her until she decides to give them back.

*edit* Wow.

Project: Lazarus: Was depressing. Very good though.
Invasion of Time: I really liked this story. Tom was in his really oddball stage at this point, and it had not one but two Jelly Baby jokes that made me laugh.

I'm going to watch An Unearthly Child next. Gulp. I've heard very, very good things about it.

An unearthly child portrays the doctor as almost villainous. In fact, he kidnaps his first companions. Project:Lazarus wins brownie points by making me think i'd messed up my organising by making the last part a sylvester McCoy one. And "invasion of time" wins points for showing the Tardis/bbc corridors and swimming pool.

As for Paul returning, I think that if he was to do so, they would do at least one series/movie of him as normal, and then have him regenerate into the timewar. Maybe. That's assuming Eccleston wants to come back (which he may well do, if the reports of him saying the main reason he left was due to the production team. He'd probably be interested in a film anyway.)

Actually, it's a combination of things as to why Chris left and won't come back. Mainly, he never does sequels or returns back to something after he's done with it. Thus why he suddenly disappeared - pun absolutely intended - into thin air and never showed up again. Contrast to Eric Roberts The Master, who was killed off in 'Landslide' but proceeded to show up the seventeenth episode of Serieses 3 and 4. As a plus, his character wasn't ruined by actually being the long lost son of Matt Parkman and Nikki who is forced to age backwards thus explaining why he was 10 years older then both of them.

Also, Project: Lazarus, according to wiki, begins a loose trilogy which ends with Evelyn leaving the Doctor. I'm saddened by this, not because Evelyn's leaving but I was planning on listening to them in relatively chronological order instead of release order, and that would include '100', 'Assassin in the Limelight', and the recent trilogy with Brewster. I'll just pretend the next one doesn't start immediately afterward then. :P

Also; re: Doctor Who getting stale. I watch it episodically, with the occasional 'what the hell, two episodes in one night won't kill me'. Exceptions include when there's a movie edit, as I dig that sort of thing. I occasionally have periods where I don't want to watch anything or I'm finding the show a bit tedious, but I usually have something I've been saving that's allegedly good to turn me around. In the case of the last occasion, I had Neverland/Zagreus, which I treated as a five-night event, listening to each one at 9pm sharp. Like Children of Earth.

I watched that trailer with a huge grin on my face. Does that mean I'm cured? Yay! Evenso, I think I'll still do the drought thing.

Also, I can't wait for the episode which sees Amy and Rory destroying Apples robotic workforce with samurai swords. (c.30s)

And Hitler with an english accent is... different.
