Default I need an informed decision if i should buy a new console or save for my future pc.

My next paycheck is coming and i have been longing for some good games i've been wanting to play like red dead redemption, FFXIII, Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 1,2,3.

Then theres the tough and expensive choices i must make.Theres Xbox 360 which doesnt have free online gaming, but better processor and theres PS3 which has most of my friends playing, better graphics, free online lag playing. Lastly but not least i got an outdated pc hardware that to buy a new desktop would require an investment of no less than $600. Which is something i've been thinking on saving.

Im thinking of buying a used console from Gamestop (Either Xbox 360 or PS3), but i dont know if its the right decision or if i should wait and save for my PC which no longer cant run todays game! So please give me an informed advice what you would do in my place and why?

I already got the Wii! Its frustrating enough not having many friends to play CoD:BlackOps with it. And graphics are really really bad!

If you shop sales on the digital distribution outlets, you can get games a boatload cheaper on PC than on consoles. You will have to give up some selection, but I find I have more games to play on PC than I have time to play them. (Plus you get PC-only gems like Minecraft and Team Fortress 2.) The cost to get a gaming PC is greater than a console (unless you count the cost of an HDTV, which I consider a requirement for 360/PS3) but I think the utility of a good PC, combined with cheaper games and more fan-made content, makes PC a superior choice.

I would go for the PC.

You won't be able to play all the PS3 and Xbox 360 exclusive titles but it gives you the best flexibility for the rest. With this budget you can even afford a GTX460, 4GB RAM, ...

Buy several Gameboy Colors. duh.

Seriously, though, I have an awesome PC, but I'm still kicking myself for not having a console since I'm missing out on a lot of cool games, and most games I like on PC have console ports anyway (But most adventure games are only on PC I think).

There's some kind of a mistake in your headline. It is in fact impossible to buy "a new console", as all the available models are at least based on 5 year old designs, and specs haven't changed much in this half-decade. Your trigger finger might be itching, but it's really not the best time to buy a console. I don't know the console market as much as I used to, but I seriously think that after such a long time, "the next generation" is just around the corner. So, used console instead of new one is the right thing to do. You name a lot of games which are available both on console and PC, but eventually, you will have to decide which mode of control fits you better to get your question answered.

That said, if you're choosing between PS3 and Xbox360... get a PS3. It's obviously the console for Telltale Games.

I'd say get the PS3.
It's more of an household product rather than only a gaming console.
You can check your blu-rays on it and it has a classy design.

But don't you have cheap bundles now with a PS3 + 2 games one of which is Uncharted 2? Great game to start your PS3 gaming with!

Oh, I know; save up until the next generation of consoles. I bought my ps2 about 2 years before the PS3 and 360 popped up, and I still regret that decision.

I still favor the PC because there is just so much more you can do with it. There still exist many games for it, also enjoyable ones which aren't available on consoles. The initial hardware investment is larger but the games are cheaper then. PS3 has these titles, Xbox 360 has those, the controller of the PS3 sucks in comparison to the Xbox 360's. The PS3 might be the better allrounder of the two consoles but then again a dedicated Blu-Ray player does the job even better and cheaper. Xbox360 has quite some nice indie games. Blabla...

All have their pros and cons. I again suggest the PC. As for the consoles, i'm unsure as it really depends on the games you want to play, i just would ignore the Wii as it sucks.

I wonder about the impact of the new store for OSX and how much more this turns the Mac into a gaming platform. But from the hardware costs it's nothing you want, not now.

The wii is kinda like a side-console. You can buy it, but only if you already have either a good gaming PC, a 360, or a ps3.

The iPhone/iPad/DS just might be the better sidekick.

Wouldn't the iPad be redundant, considering you already have a console/PC? I dunno, I never used it, so I'm not sure what the porting situation of it.
