Default I was born a Cancer, today I woke up a Gemini

So yeah, they changed the date for each zodiac sign and even added a 13th one and stuff
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0..._n_808567.html

Capricorn: Jan. 20 - Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 - March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18 - May 13
Taurus: May 13 - June 21
Gemini: June 21 - July 20
Cancer: July 20 - Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10 - Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16 - Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30 - Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23 - Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29 - Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17 - Jan. 20

So, who else is suffering an identity crisis now?

wat.

I don't wanna be a Gemini.

I love how the article says "it shouldn't affect horoscope readings". Good to know that intentionally vague "predictions" are still possible in light of this earth-shattering development.

I like how the article is based on something one guy said. Until the newspaper starts printing thirteen signs in the horoscopes, I'm putting less stock in this article than I do in astrology.

Fine, I'm with you guys. I'm a Scorpio, and no random article's going to make me a Libra.

And either way, I was still born a Rabbit, and nobody can take that away!

But it's not just a thing a random guy said, this is SCIENCE

Also, a fun fact I found
Quote:
he signs of the zodiac were created by the ancient Babylonians, who believed that whatever constellation the sun was "in" when you were born helped shape who you are. But a "wobble" in the Earth's rotation means that the sun's placement in, say, late December is no longer where it was when the Babylonians created the system.

"When [astrologers] say that the sun is in Pisces, it's really not in Pisces," Parke Kunkle of the Minnesota Planetarium Society told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Even more shocking: Kunkle and his colleagues say there should be a 13th sign, Ophiuchus. That's the constellation the sun is in from Nov. 29 to Dec. 17. Apparently, the Babylonians skipped Ophiuchus because they wanted there to be only 12 signs.
If they ignored a constellation "just because" when they created this stuff then I say it's perfectly fair that they readd it "just because" too.

And I'm a monkey, not even an awesome metal monkey either IIRC =(

Libras for life. It sort of like if someone said "Your home country has been taken over. Nothing will change, but you're now Russian. No! I'm an American!

Uhm... you do know that mass media feds up this news every year, right? And that's because they play on the confusion between zodiacal constellation and zodiac signs? The Ophiuchus constellation is well known for many, MANY years and this 'suddenly discovered' bullshit is to agitate the community. All astrologists and astronomers know for many years that Sun passes through Ophiuchus, but the number of Zodiac signs still remain the same. Zodiac signs are based not on the Sun's position infront of the constellations, but on it's position during Spring and Autumn equinox and Winter and Summer solstice and where the Sun stands during these periods and in between them (something like that, I can't exactly remember the details). So nobody worries or makes a fuss, everything's going to be fine. Year 2012 we'll hear the same damn bullshit. But don't mind it. It's 13 zodiacal constellations, 12 zodiac signs. Different things.

I'm calm. It's just that every year on at least one of the forums I'm a member of people start posting this news and yell 'AAAAHHH!!!! DIFFERENT SIGN!!! BUT I WANT TO STILL BE MY *OLD SIGN*, BWWAAAAAAHHH!'. It's the fourth or fifth year now I watch this, TellTale's not the only forum with this thread and I'm kinda getting a bit sick of it, floods the places. In my opinion better to try and kill off these threads quickly before they grow into 50-60 pages (don't ask... I wasn't a part of the discussion, but the thread was hanging on the top for damn very long!)

In a few thousand years these constellations won't even exist anymore, due to the stars being on different places in the night sky. In fact, these stars aren't even at the spot they're now since <distance in lightyears from Earth to star> years.
