Default Trouble running Sam & Max

I just purchased Sam & Max The Devil's Playhouse (from a shop), but when I try to play it tells me the application failed to initialise properly. I have been through the FAQ's, and my computer has all the system requirements. What can I do?

Can you please post a dxdiag file?

dxdiag
Windows XP: Go to your start menu and click on run. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter
Windows Vista / 7: Press the windows key on your keyboard or click on the start menu. Type in "dxdiag" and hit enter.

Now click on the button that says "save all information".
It will prompt you to save a file. Save it where you can find it.

Then zip the file and attach it to a reply in this Thread.

It contains information about your computer, that can help us fix the problem.

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS
Driver Date/Size: 8/2/2008 12:20:00, 6049536 bytes

Description: Realtek HD Audio output

Your Windows and Drivers are not up to date.

I recommend you to install Windows XP Service Pack 3 and afterwards enable automatic windows updates by running the Fix it tool or doing it manually.

More importantly, please install the latest Graphics driver and Sound driver.
The old drivers are most likely what keeps the game from running.

The site seems to be down temporarily. You can download it from here too.

I have done all of that, but the game is still not working. It still comes up with the following message:

The application failed to initialize properly (Oxc0150002).

I downloaded the demo, and that worked fine.

Installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package should fix that.

That's odd.

Just to cover them both you could also try the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package.

Also, could you please attach a new dxdiag, so i can see the latest state?
