Here's another thing about doug i thought deserves mention


Doug: I spent all my time....
Lee: On the computer?
Doug: No just doing my own thing

I look at this differently.

I dont see it as save one or the other.I see it as who do i save first.I fully intend to save the second one also,it just hasnt worked out that way yet.I ,the char, doesnt know i'm in a game thats gonna punish me regardless of my choice, by killing one of them.

And i fully expect the one i save,to help me save the other.So that helps me decide who gets saved first.

In the case of doug and carly,she can give the most help saving others at this point due to the gun.All that was needed was for doug to stay alive long enough for carly to get off a couple more shots,saving doug.

If on the other hand,if i saved doug,in order to save carly we now have to run over and fight hand to hand with the zombies on carly.Not a safe or fast option.

Nobody decided based on the method of death they were in danger of?

Doug looked like he would have suffered much more, what with getting pulled out by multiple fellas. Ugh, terrible. Carly looked like she was facing a grisly death as well, but at least it wouldn't have been as horrible.


Also, after the Duck/Sean thing, it seemed the decisions were strictly an either-or situation.

e: two more things, actually:
another pro-doug thing to consider is that he had saved carly's life earlier. Both results are obviously tragic, but when person 1 saves person 2, which consequence is moreso: person 2 survives for another week or so, or person 1 dies as an indirect result of saving another life? Both people benefited from that encounter this way.

speaking of which, did anyone else think lee was kind of a dick to doug? I'd been playing with a friend, and missed a little bit in the drug store. Did something happen? Cause it seems like Lee just heard he was a dork from Ms. I-can't-comprehend-the-concept-of-batteries, and started making comments about him spending all his time on the computer, and knowing useless nerd crap. It's gonna be weird when Lee inevitably asks him to fix the walkie-talkie.


it's weird, while playing, i felt really unsure about the choice, mostly because I thought Carly was dependable. Now that i'm talking about it though, i'm positive it was the right one.

best solution would be to toss carley her bag and then rush over to doug and pull him free of the zombies as carley handles hers then helps lee free doug and they all escape.

I'd be impressed if they don't kill off the survivor quickly, because that would result in a lot of extra work throughout 5 episodes

Well they don't nessecarily need to kill them off they could kill them off in the way they killed Glenn off {I.E. sending the survivor off for some reason}

Hypothetical situation:

The gang encounters two orphans who have been taking care of themselves {like i mentioned in another thread} in the end The kids decide to part ways with the gang but Carley/Doug Decides to go with them. Boom gone but not dead

While one might assume all the Carly saves are male players outnumbering female players and thinking with their dangles, I weighed my choice to save her over Doug purely on observations made. As Lee says, Doug doesn't do well around Zombies; yes, he saved Carly but it could have been heat of the moment, possibly even unintentional.

Second, if the group has to move quickly, as someone who looks like he spent a lot of time in-doors moving quickly could be a detriment to him and, in turn, the group.

Lastly, Carly is a dead-shot (which leaves me feeling she's more then what she seems, i.e. just a radio reporter...) and, in an Apocalypse, such a person is worth they're weight in gold.

I mean, do you have any idea how difficult it is to hit a small point (i.e. Head shot) on a moving target? Her Marks-woman skills mean she can take down a walker, but conserve ammo. Another point in her favor.

Yes, Doug appeared to be a Tech Specialist, but among future survivors they might very well encounter another, but you'd be surprised how rare it is to find someone who can shoot straight under duress, especially the Flesh Eating kind of duress.

I liked Doug, and considering I got a sense he was partial to Lee in a same sex oriented way ("Lee, I think you're a great guy...") I felt bad for letting him get the chomp, but, in the end, I just thought Carly would be of greater benefit to the group. Sorry Doug.

at the end, clementine is upset because her walkie talkie is broken, knowing that doug is a tech guy and into those things, i was really happy for her that i picked him. I hope he can repair the walkie talkie for her in the next episodes.

Somebody has mentioned it Fonzie but thanks for mentioning it yourself so we can discuss it some more. Do you think Dough has the knowlledge to fix a broken walkie talkie?

about the game telling you about a character remembering what you have done.

shaun remembered stuff right up to his death.
as did hershal before he kicks you off the farm.

so doug not having any 'recollections' in ep 1 doesn't mean much, dougs reactions aren't much different with your dialogue options but everyone else does change depending on your choices, maybe he shines later on.

Hello everyone, new user, first post but I've been reading the forums since I got the game.

I don't know if it was mentioned before, and it's been a little while since I've played through episode 1 again so I don't remember exactly what all the characters were up to. But why do you think everyone didn't go into the office when the zombies were first attempting to break in? It is clearly the more defendable location.

Oh, and I saved Carley my first time through, Doug on the second. I did think it was funny to see that ~80% of players saved the woman with the gun though.
