Post WalkingDead101.exe Has Stopped Working help

For my birthday, I got The Walking Dead game. When I go to play it, the screen goes black, and then it says "WalkingDead101.exe Has stopped working". I think 'Maybe I just did something wrong..." so I reboot it. And nothing happens. I even click another one of my games to see if it's just running it the game is still running, and it isn't. I've tried the famous 'Disable the internet' and that does nothing. Steam even said that it failed to run because I wasn't connected (and I did run it from the library). I don't mean to make this post long, i'm just getting my point across. As far as I know, this hasn't happened before, and this is the last thing i'm doing before I give up.

Yours is the "Steam" version, right? Mine is the Telltale "standalone" (no Steam required) and I have the same problem as you do. Game has never run since the day I bought it. I've tried just about every "trick" on these forums (disconnect internet, run in compatibility mode, reinstall, reboot, disable/enable antivirus/firewall) and nothing works for me. Have you tried everything like that too? I'm curious of the Steam version can be fixed any more than the non-Steam one.

That's what I'd like to know too... but there seems to be no tech support from Telltale themselves anymore here, just overworked volunteers trying to do their best (which is definitely appreciated!).

I'd be interested to know actually who DOES have a working non-Steam PC version, as while I know some Steam users have it working and some don't, I can't recall reading of any non-Steam users saying their TWD game runs.

The total lack of info in the crash but the fact that some (not me, sadly) have fixed it by disconnecting from the internet is surely a hint towards why this may happen for those who coded the game runner, at least?

From the thread dedicated to the bug it seems antivirus/firewall stuff isn't the answer (people have varying levels of this and none can run the game on or off) but it certainly may be a specific driver issue if we can work out what all us non-players have in common! For the record, I'm using Windows 7 x64.

Definitely above the requirements, here. I'm actually tempted to try it on my (decent) laptop just to see if it DOES work on that!

Also, why would internet disconnection solve the problem for anyone if it was hardware limits/driver issues (not directed at anyone in particular, just a speculation)?

If you have multiple systems you can test on id try that, IF it works on your laptop there must be an issue with your pc (one that other people share) and all it needs then is to find the common piece and then youll be getting somewere lol

this sounds to me like a corrupt installation file, try re-downloading the install file...delete old 1, re-download from game link...
