The Walking Dead Episode 2 REVIEW THREAD/ SPOILERS!!

SPOILERS-

At the start of episode 2 I didn't think I liked it as much, but once we got to the farm it started to pick up a bit. I was very suspicious of the farmers even before any of the characters were and truth be told I did suspect that they were cannibals, but the bits from finding Mark without his legs to leaving the farm really got my pulse going. While earlier in the episode where I tried to cut off a man's leg I hadn't really been very bothered by it, I was litterly squirming in my seat when Kenny and I had to kill Larry right in front of Clementine. Even though I kinda saw the plot twist coming I definetly didn't see THAT coming! I thought Larry would be around for a while! Anyway, I thought that after playing so much gears of war (what can I say, I'm an xbox gamer) I was pretty much desensitised to the whose horror thing, but if future episodes are anything like this, we're all in for quite a ride.

ive said it before and ill say it again, who the fuck is mark and why should i care if he dies? pretty sure he was put in just to die and make some form of plot point/statement

Oh thank gosh.

I thought I missed something from Episode 1, or the game d/l messed up and only gave me part of the episode... (kidding about the second part)

I don't have the game, but I watch the spoilers so... spoiler


He came from an Air Force base. He got into the group because he gave food. He's an average nice guy that's a bit too honest. That's... pretty much it.

A side note: Because he's going to die, it's pointless to give him the food. Chances are, it looks like, Larry is going to die as well. Carly refuses the food. I haven't tried it myself, but I bet the best idea is give the food to Clementine and Kenny's family.

i still find his sudden appearance and sudden death quite bad though, if he was introduced in the first episode and then died id understand, but he appeared, had very little dialogue, then died.... i wont remember him in january when episode 3 comes out, i barely care about his death now, it seems so arbitrary

You aren't supposed to care about him. He's sort of one of those characters that shows up to die. It happens in a lot of mediums. Cheap? Yes. But isn't exactly something eccentric.

BIG SPOILERS

Just a few thoughts about episode 2:

SPOILERS: Enjoyed it on the whole. My only gripe is that you can't really effect the story at all. You can effect people's opinions of you, but not really the direction the story takes. For instance, from what i've read- you always end up at the Dairy Farm (even if you don't want to) You never can leave once you're there, even if you realise it's quite likely they're upto no good. Larry always dies, no matter what you do. Mark always dies, no matter what you do. The finale is always the same with you confronting all 3 of the St Johns. The only thing you have control over is whether you kill them. But that doesn't matter as you won't see them again regardless of what you choose. So i'd guess going into episode 3, the fact you killed them or you didn't, probably won't make a difference to the story arc, other than the fact a few people might treat you slightly differently.

There's basically just one storyline that you HAVE to follow. All you control are a few minor elements.

The only really big decision thus far was in episode one, choosing Doug or Carley... and even then, that really didn't effect anything that happened in episode two, as Carley and Doug were pretty inter-change-able.

All that said, I did enjoy playing it, even though I got the sense that what I did didn't really effect the grand scheme of things.

The being said, she doesn't seem to be too cocerned about the food, at least not with you. Kenny's... emotional, so I'd would give him some food.

I could not wait longer and ended up buying the xbox version. It was way better than I expected and was much better than the first episode.
Telltale really did a good job with this one.

I loved this game! after the intro it gets kind of slow to build up, but you get more character background on certain characters like (the new guys) Mark, Ben and Doug (im one of the few that saved him my first time around). The twist's keep you guessing throughout the episode, even if you think you know whats going on you're never 100% sure till sh*t hits the fan. You start to question certain characters that you've established friendships with and get to find out what they're made of in a world gone to hell. There aren't any "main story" changing choices, BUT there are a lot of choices that put your morals and instincts to the test and really get you into the world, which to me is really satisfying and even though the outcome to most of the twist's are set in stone the way you react to them is what really keeps the ball rolling in this episode and most likely effects future episodes.

Closing Comments:
I love how different Episode one was to Episode two, it feels like a completely different game which is what makes having different writers in my opinion a smart move oh and here come my favorite/emotional parts:

My top 3 parts in the game were 1) overall the horror movie feel to the game it really kept me in suspense. 2)(first of all I decided to help Lily save her Father so it might play out different for some people) that part in the game where you have to take the gun away from Danny and he's pointing it at you, then it goes to Kenny and he STAYS HIDING! then Lily saves us. I was like "WTF Kenny" lol and finally 3)when you get to beat up Andy, I kept punching his face non-stop till finally Doug stops me and the whole crew is looking at me and I look at how f*cked up Andy's face is and he's begging you to finish him off. I felt so bad when I walked away and hearing his last words "PLEEEAASE LEEE" all crying *tear*
