Playing through the game, I kinda picked up on the fact that this crazy lady either knows Clementine, or thinks she knows her.... I thought for a bit that she might be Clementine's actual mother, but toward the end of Episode 2 (upon seeing the camera footage, recovered by Doug) you start to realize that she's a couple french fries short of a happy meal.

Who is this lady? How did she steal Clementine's hat? I understand that she's a worker at a big box store, and seems to be batshit insane. However I'm not sure of her relationship to the Dairy Farm, or the bandits, or what....

She also, on the camera footage, yells something about "rapists" ... are we to conclude that she was raped by bandits or something? I'm confused. How the hell does this lady tie in with the story exactly?

From what I can tell, I think this woman was orignally apart of the group of bandits, along with her (presumably young, due to the toy) daughter. When the group devolved into lawlessness, some of them took her daughter from her - and I think raped and killed her. This poor woman was obviously driven mad with grief, and separated from the Bandits. She then discovers Clementine, and intends for her to "replace" the daughter she had lost. She somehow pits the bandits against the cannibals (who previously had an agreement of trading food for not being attacked) to try to keep Clementine safe from harm (probably from the bandits, but seeing as how she probably knew what the Cannibals were up to, also from them as well.)

I'm not really sure what happened to her little girl, but she seemed bent on taking Clementine as her replacement.

The details of her relationship to the bandits and the St John's Dairy people are still unclear to me, other than wanting to kill all of them.

From what I gathered the Bandits were working with the Saint Johns to lure people in so they could harvest them for meat. However, the deal goes sour somehow. After all, remember the fence? With one of the options Andy claims that he turned the fence on because he heard Mark yell and thought he was given the all-clear. However, Mark didn't yell until 'after' the fence had turned on and he had gotten shot with the arrow.

The crazy woman worked with them before the Apocalypse started. She had the uniform and name-tag on her vest to prove it. The bandits took her daughter in to the woods, after which the little girl never returned. My bet is that they either raped and murdered the girl or delivered her to the Dairy farm to be minced to meat bits. I think the last one happened because she calls Danny a monster and seems to know what they had done to get the meat.

The crazy woman (who's name is Jolene by the way) got suspicious when her daughter didn't come back, which she tells you if you asked her what happened. She got raped and two of them tried to kill her but she killed them instead. She lost her mind at this point.

During re-con she came across the Motor inn and Clementine looked a little bit like her daughter. How she managed to take the hat is unknown but she does mention how she sees Clementine doesn't have a mother around and obviously has the intention to take her to replace her own girl. The boxes she has at her camp are most likely taken from the bandits so they would turn against the St. Johns.

That's what I made of it at least.

There are a lot of different versions here..
I am really curious to get the answer..

Yeah, it seems that she developed a hatred for men cause on the video she was saying things like "They won't be able to hurt you." "You need a real mother not that animal" and things like that

From my play-throughs of episode 2, I managed to figure out that Jolene was in league with the bandits. Her daughter was then taken into the woods, where she was raped and murdered. Jolene tried to do something against this, but the bandits raped her too. This explains her mental trauma. Looking for help, she stumbles on St. John's. She gathers the fact that the farmers are cannibals, and in order to survive, looted food from the dairy.
