Spoilers! Give Ben a Chance!

So you all think Ben isn't a sympathetic character? You think Ben's a big dumbass? You think Ben should die?

Jerks.

Ben is us. I'm serious, in the real world we are all what Ben is, the guy that means well and occasionally makes things worse when he's trying to help out.

Okay, I can tell that didn't work. You all think that you're better than Ben. My bad, I forgot that each and every one you is the King Arthur of your own Camelot fantasy and of course you'd just never ever fuck up in a zombie apocalypse. Fine, go sit in your throne and scoff at me. But think about this while you scoff down caviar tonight.

Ben's character is redemption personified. He has messed up, and yeah, he feels guilty. But if you never give up on him, even when he gives up on himself, I have a feeling that he will eventually come through.

I am now staking my prediction: Ben's character is going to have a major moment in Ep.5. He will literally be Super Ben. He will like, somehow save Lee's life or something. Or maybe something slightly less significant, I don't know what, the point is that Ben is going to do something awesome and everyone of you who let him die will literally choke on your shark fin soup when you realize I'm right. How dare you.

Or I could be totally wrong, in which case I give you all permission to shit all over this page while I denounce and reject myself.

Ben will suck the infection out of Lee's wrist.

I think Ben already proves you're wrong in Ep. 4, seriously, abandoning Clem was the least of his wrongdoings in it. Like I said before, the guy just downright f-ing scares me, even when he tries to help somebody dies. And no, I don't think alot of people are gullible enough to believe a band of murderers when they say they're keeping his friend like Ben did in Ep. 3 or removing the hatchet from the door that was keeping the walkers out of the part of the building Lee's group was in which resulted in the walkers killing Brie in Ep. 4. Nobody is expecting him or anybody else to adapt perfectly to a ZA in the space of 3 months, but Ben's a proven walking disaster.

Maybe I'm just too old to view Ben from a more sympathetic point of view, but now with Ep. 4 I'm just wondering what Ben has to do to finally alienate his defenders.

I have to say Ben in this episode really amazed me....He REALLY just blew my mind. When Ben got Carly killed I wanted to kill him right then and there but I didn't threaten him because I wanted to know why he did it. His reason pissed me off and made me wish I had threatened him instead. However after replaying the episode and trying to shift blame over to Ben and off of Carly, seeing Carly stand up for Ben until her dying moment made me get all sappy and I decided to give Ben another chance out of respect for Carly's. I wanted to be the Lee that she believed in, the Lee whose book Lily needed to take a page from.

HOWEVER.... I when I saw that trailer for episode 4 and saw Ben leave Clem to the walkers; I was back to hating him and wanting to let him die the first chance I got. In fact I started this episode ready to kill him, I made it my mission kill Ben. As the episode progressed I thought to myself, how can Ben possibly f*** up worse than getting Carly killed and leaving Clem? Now the part that amazes me is when Ben took the hatchet out of the door.... I can rant on and on about this but I just said this: "The f*** up of the year award goes to.... Ben from S&M High!" Bravo Ben Bravo....Did I mention I really wanted to kill him?

Then came the glorious moment...the moment I had been waiting for, I finally had Ben's life literally in my hands, and what do I do? I pull his dumb ass up. I saved him even after all of his f*** ups. Why? Because of the scene before where Clementine stood up for him. She reminded me of Carly and was willing to forgive him for leaving her to die. I swear throughout the entire series so far Carly and Clementine have always managed to keep my moral compass point north.
I tip my hat to Telltale games for the amazing job they have done so far.

I spared Ben, not because I see redemption within him or potential for him to become some great hero which will take care of everyone but simply because allowing one of the group to die--incompetent and stupid as he is--would simply cause tension.

I don't trust him to come during Lee's final moments, however I do trust him with the boat and hope that when Lee's gone, he and Kenny can reconcile and perhaps take care of Clementine together.

Maybe in some flash-forward, we'll see Kenny and Benny (Ben with Kenny's stache) killing Walkers together while raising Clementine (despite flash forwards never going to happen).

I saved him at the end.

I was never mad at them when he was stealing and giving the supplies to bandits. He just wanted us safe.
He makes stupid moves most of the time. Why would he tell Kenny about what you done to KAT and DUCK? In this situation? You can always tell Kenny when we make it safe to the house. He got another person killed while keeping door closed.
I was upset with him that he didn't save Clem. <~ Stupid move.
Somehow a stranger like chuck saved the kid on episode 4. Chuck have more balls and cares about the group more than he does.

Lets all hope that Ben will cherish this chance that I gave him and protect Clem when lee is gone.
Or else I become one of them and have a piece of meat of BEN

I really wanted to let him die. Good job on that, TellTale. I wanted to kill him a heck of a lot more then I did Larry but I didn't because I don't unilaterally murder people. If Kenny had done it, I wouldn't have stopped him. If we had another vote for who got on the boat, I would have voted against him but at that time (I abstained originally. It was NOT the time for doing that) and place it went against my grain to finish him off.

But I REALLLLY wanted to.

Man, I agree 100%! I also saved him!
When he was in my hands, I said hahaha payback time!

Carley died protecting this USELESS! I could not kill him!
Ben, FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! You're lucky Carley thought I was a good man! So FUCK YOU!
He is a good person, but I still think he Coward and Ass! AND L STILL HATE Ben!

So, that's me on my own with a infected wrist that is sure to come back and cause me trouble. I let my anger for Ben get the best of me and let him die a very painful death. I wish Kenny would have just lost his shit and killed him for me but it wasn't to be. It does sound harsh but Ben just wasn't handling himself the way I thought he would. So with no one wanting to come with me and our group now fragmented, it ain't looking so good for Lee. Episode five will be a interesting one for sure. I feel the cold winter coming......

Am I the only one who found it funny when Ben jumped out all Rambo-like with the axe that was holding the door shut?

He isn't a bad person... just kinda inept. Wanting to kill a person for being stupid, one that's trying to help is just wrong lolz.

Probably the only thing Ben did that helped the group, was when Lee had a choice to pull him up or drop him, and Ben said, "take Clementine and the others to safety." I knew then, that I couldn't let him die. That was the first time he was willing to sacrifice himself for other people. Plus, with Carley saying how Lee was a great man for taking care of others and defending Ben in Episode 3, and Clementine defending Ben and how friends can't be left behind, I knew I couldn't leave Ben to die. No matter how stupid he is lol.

I don't understand why anyone would purposely let him go, that's just cruel. Despite your opinion on him you really having nothing holding you back from saving a life, and if you really hated him that bad death isn't right. Just force him out of the group, better choice then murder.

Ben's like a reverse King Midas, everything he touches turns to crap.

If he's not screwing up with a criminal lack of common sense, he was just plain cowardly, e.g. abandoning Clementine when he was armed... and who had the lapse in judgement to even give the kid a gun I have no idea.

Trading with the bandits was just plain stupid considering Jolene gave us the story about what happened when she "begged them every way she could" for her daughter and we know how that turned out. Oh yeah, the people known for little things like rape and murder are surely going to be above lying.

And pulling the hatchet out of the door that's covered top to bottom in blood? Really? This shouldn't require any sort of explanation. It didn't occur to him to atleast ask "hey, this seems kinda strange, is this maybe important?".

He's had his three swings, and they were all strikes. He causes, or contributes to the deaths of no less than three people (And no, I'm not counting Carley/Doug) and abandoned Clem to be eaten alive. The only redeeming quality he had is that he finally understood he was dead weight the group shouldn't have to pull.

If I have to choose between him and Kenny, it's Kenny.
If I have to choose between him and Clem, It's Clem.
If I have to choose between him and Chuck, It's Chuck.
If I have to choose between him and Christa-Omid, It's them.

But if I have a chance to deliberately kill him, I won't kill him.
