Default Walker's Worst Enemy

Stairs.

I mean really, they can barely walk, so it would make sense that it would be very difficult for them to lift their legs and walk up, at best they'd try to climb up taking much longer. Stay atop a bunch of stairs and add a few barricades at certain points and it would take forever for them to make it to you, if they even knew you were up there. Only downside would be an exit plan but that shouldn't be to hard to figure out, worst case when **** hits the fan flee to the roof, and use a homemade bridge of some sort to the next building then block off or destroy it. If Lee and Co. were to hold up in say an apartment building or something their biggest threat would be whats already inside, which if their careful they could easily take care of.

In the zombie universe, physics don't apply. How could something with no muscles, or severely rotted muscles, move at all? How come bugs aren't eating them up? Oh, so many things don't make sense. It's best not to think about it too much and enjoy the story.

In somewhat the same way a baby can crawl upstairs, I think a zombie will manage. I see them having issues going down, but I suspect gravity would give them a hand and I don't think they'll mind.

Stairs aren't a walker's worst enemy. I am.

I can remember reading about the behaviour of zombies recently and apparently Kirkman spoke out on this little nuance. This is according to The Walking Dead wikia:
Quote:
Kirkman wrote:

"[Zombies cannot usually go up stairs]--it's decided on a case by case basis...I'm sure there's a zombie out there who could...but not very well...to reference this series--was it issue 8? Rick opens the door to the basement of that house--and zombies are waiting at the top of the stairs and rush him!...So based on that scene...zombies can go up stairs... but it probably took them a while."
I don't think stairs would be a problem if you were being chased up them, but more so if you were being chased down them.

I always thought about this. Why not just hole up on the second floor of some building and kick/break out the 1st three steps? Better yet, find a nice retractable ladder

I would say knights. Full on suits of armor with bastard swords and maces. Not sure horses would be so useful but I imagine a cavalry charge with them would be rather impressive.

Zombie Handbook makes a good point on armor. You don't get eaten when covered with body armor, just swarmed and pinned down. If they never get through the armor, worst case scenario you starve to death.

Wow, this thread took a quick left. Didn't they use riot gear in the comics?

Yes but they lost it to the Governor, plus it made mobility and vision worse.

Slopes. Any kind of steep incline! While stairs have steps for Walkers to step on, slopes and steep inclines will make them gravity's ***** as they won't have anywhere to step and will keep falling down it.

Read The Zombie Survival Guide. Well, you dont so much read it as much as study it. It 'documents' all types of zombie facts; based on various 'field tests' conducted on Zombie. Not surprisingly, it answers everything you just asked and a whole lot more
