Unable to play EP 5, anyone having a similar issue?

I am aware that many people are having availability issues with Episode 5, but i have yet to see anyone mention a problem quite like mine. Upon booting up the game, I load my save file, which takes me to a checkpoint at the end of Episode 4. if i scroll over to 5 and click play, it says: "Generate choices for skipped episode? Y/N." Naturally, I don't want to do that, so i play through the last bit of Episode 4. Afterwards, It takes me back to the main menu, and when I load the save again, it takes me to Episode 5 which now says "Coming soon" again! I restarted the game, restarted my computer, and reinstalled the entire game, but nothing I know of can fix it. Essentially, if i wanted to play Episode 5 i would have to roll the dice and hope it randomly generates all my choices correctly, which is a very slim chance. I was contemplating playing the whole thing over again, but i doubt that would help, and i wanted to bring the issue here first. On a side note, i am no longer able to see the "Who did you take with you?" stat screen, which i find strange.

Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, how did you fix it? I was so pumped to finish this season, it is absolutely torturous sit here and be completely unable to do anything because of a bug no else seems to have. Of course, Telltale could fix it in a patch, but who knows how long that could take? Anyway, if anyone is having a similar experience, or any advice on the issue, it would be much appreciated if you voiced it.
Oh, and i forgot to mention that i have the Steam version, if that makes a difference.

Try and list your choices for all 4 episodes here, ill check if any of my saves are compatible, its possible your save is just fucked so perhaps you can try mine.

Thanks again, and even if they aren't 100% compatible, choices like giving Irene the gun, not stealing from the car, and not shooting the girl in the street don't seem to affect the overall story or way characters act towards you. So even if we did those differently, it probably won't make much of a difference. of course there is also the problem of who we sided with in various situation, like Kenny Vs. Lilly, or Chista Vs. Kenny etc. still, we will see what happens i guess.

Had the same. Rewinding the last scene of episode 4 and replaying it solved the problem.

Really? just the last scene? because i redid the WHOLE EPISODE today and it still didn't work! i guess I'll try that now.

I'm having an issue with Episode 5.. I don't have the option to download it, it says "Play" so when I click on it the screen just goes black.. I'm sure it's because I haven't downloaded it yet but I don't have the "Get" button like past episodes.. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?? I just wanna play this final!! Please and Thank you!

I already do the end of ep 4 three time, and everytime, ep 5 is "coming soon".

I'm seeing the same problem mentioned by the OP.

I'm playing on Windows 7, purchased through Steam.

If I load my save game (which is listed as being Episode 4), then try to play Episode 5, it asks, "Generate choices for skipped episode?"

If I load the Episode 4 save file and play through the last segment again, it lists Episode 5 as "Coming soon!"

I'd played the first two episodes on my Mac, and when I started Episode 3 on my PC I'd opted to generate choices for the skipped episodes. I played through 3 and 4 on my PC.

Well, i found a fix. For me at least, i hope it works for all of you as well.

What you need to do is make sure that all of your "prefs.prop" files are in sync.
under normal circumstances there should be 2, one is located in Documents\Telltale Games\The Walking Dead the other is found in Steam\Steamapps\Common\The Walking Dead\Pack. I have the steam version so that's where my other file is located, if you have the non-steam version i have no idea where it is, but you should be able to find it with a bit of poking around. Anyway, make sure that they are both completely identical, down to the minute, whichever one is most recent preferably. So basically copy the chosen file, delete the outdated one and paste the good one in its place.

To be honest, i don't know if this really fixed it, but it was the last thing i tried before booting up the game again and being pleasantly surprised to find that it now allowed me to play Ep. 5 without generating choices. mine was out of date by a mere 24 minutes, but apparently that was enough!

I was looking so much forward to playing this, it is a big turndown that I have to wait.

Some people had the same problems with Episode 4. If you are on p.c., here are some things you might try. Have you tried exiting out of the game, and going back in? Shutting down and restarting your computer? Any of the manual downloads that were put on the forums? I had this issue with 4, and had to delete my game and all saves, then download the game again and start from scratch. Hopefully you won't have to do this! You should also check the support forums for more information.
