Default Shameless Self-Promotion: My First Novel!

First of all, I don't know if this is considered spam or is general forum taboo. I'm not a Nigerian prince (at least, I don't think I am) and I'm not demanding anyone buy this. So if it is a forum no-no, I apologize in advance and will gladly delete it or have no problem with a mod putting the kibosh on it.

I've posted here in the past, but I'm not very active on here. I am, however, a huge Telltale fan dating back to the first season of Sam & Max. I grew up on adventure games as early as the first King's Quest. One of my favourites of all time is Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Father.

Anyway, I wanted to say that one of my biggest dreams has recently come true: my first novel has been published. Pro Se Press, a small-print publisher specializing in pulp-style adventures, has released The City of Smoke and Mirrors. It's the first in a series that I call The Armadillo Mysteries. It's available on Amazon, as well as in various digital versions on Smashwords.

As for what the book is about? I'll let its main character tell you:

The name's Dilbert Pinkerton, private detective. Friends call me Dill. I'm a mutant armadillo. I dig for the truth.

And the truth is I need to get out of the city, away from supernatural mobsters that want my carapace for a foot bath. So when some rich dame saunters into my Hovel Office with a job, I take it. Even if it's to retrieve a pearl necklace that's not here. I'm desperate enough, I don't even care the job sends me to Nevermore Bay.

Yeah, Nevermore Bay: the city where some wacko in a mask hurdles across rooftops; calls himself The Buzzard. Criminals are scared pantsless of him. 'Course, most people think he's a myth created by the police department.

If you ask me, that's a far more exciting mystery than some oyster's cough drops. Maybe I can kill two birds with one stone during this vacation. If, that is, I don't get killed by the police, Don Komodo's crew that's on my tail, some of The Buzzard's rogues gallery or the Buzzard, himself.

Honestly, I think if you're a fan of Sam & Max, you'll love Dill and his world. Sam, in fact, was one of my inspirations for Dill. There's just something about seeing an anthropomorphic character in a trench coat and fedora. Heck, Sam's perchance for shooting stuff is very akin to Dill. Geez, I'm starting to think I just ripped off the character and made him an armadillo instead. Well okay, that's not true.

Anyway, give it a look if you're interested.

A fellow novelist! Congratulations! Welcome to an...interesting world.

Money's kind of tight for me right now, sadly, and I'm sort of wrapped up trying to work on this third book, but I do love Sam and Max, so if things clear up for me I'll definitely give your book a look. Best of luck with your writing career!

Heh, sadly very few. But that cover is pretty wicked, eh? You can thank Chris Shehan for that!
